Duh it means Keefe better win because his replacement is already in place
Normally one could pass this off as a hypothetical or a conspiracy theory.

This one though is a bright neon sign right in the face. Keefe is going to be under the gun to win and win consistently all season long, because he's eye-to-eye with his replacement every single day.

As if I didn't already despise the Canes enough, they go out and get Bunting, Lemieux, and now DeAngelo. Not too many NHL teams going to be able to out-puke Carolina.

I didn't realize that the Flyers had bought out DeAngelo. Kind of funny on the Canes part that they refused to trade for him but simply waited until Philly bit the bullet and just cut him loose, then they swooped in and got their man for nothing. Torts and DeAngelo were never going to get along, and the guy's obviously got issues, but he was a good player for Carolina and they'll back themselves to get the best out of him again.

Pretty clear what the Canes are trying to do adding these three guys - they've been too soft the last couple of years and it's hurt them in the playoffs. This is their attempt not so much to toughen up but add some guys who can agitate and push back a bit against opponents. Makes sense. Not sure it's what's going to put them over the top, but no doubt they'll be very competitive again next season.

With the cap going up the Canes deal with Aho seems very fair. They now have their top center locked up for the rest of his prime. He's a top-flight two-way center who is a royal pain in the rear to play against -- forechecking beast with plenty of offensive skill when needed. Would love to have him on the Bs on that deal now that Bergy is gone. As much as I dislike them, have to admit the Canes are absolutely killing it this summer. Canes-Devils is going to be quite the rivalry over the coming years.

My mother would have suggested that now would be an appropriate time for me to say nothing.

Murray is an enigma. If you look at his play following the two Cup-winning seasons with Pittsburgh, it's hard to believe he could have been a big part of those teams, but he was. He took the starting job from Fleury and then came up huge in many clutch situations. He was a big game goalie. Then he proceeded to go into steep decline. Did scouts find weaknesses that he couldn't fix? Injuries haven't helped but it's hard to believe he has lost his game so completely.
