Sudbury Wolves 2023-24 Season Thread (Part 5)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Off ice issues are to expected when you keep a player who was a known problem last year, who made it known that he didn't want to be here but you refused to trade ultimately forcing him to play for a team he doesn't want to play for. Not sure what anybody expected. I am actually surprised he is playing as good as he is. That being said, he should have been traded, even with the lower value.
100% disagree with this post. As the Rolling Stones song goes, “you don’t always get what you want”. This kid has a goal of becoming a pro hockey player and wether you believe it or not, holding him accountable and making him a better leader and teammate is more important than shipping him off for a bag of practice pucks. Good on the Wolves for holding they’re ground and not catering. If he was the ideal player with no warts, he’d be playing elsewhere and the Wolves would have a 08 prospect and a boat load of picks. But they don’t and Musty continues to be a healthy scratch.
Just for once I’d like the player to own their own sh1t.
If he can’t make it here because his feelings are hurt, he’s doomed as a hockey player and he’ll never reached his goal as a NHL pro..

What makes you think nothing of value was offered for Musty? RinP decided to keep him to supposedly go all in. Would you want us to believe nothing of value was offered for the likes of Delic,McCoy, and our other overagers? This was the Gms decision and we will never know what was offered for Musty and what other offers were put forward if they decided to be sellers. The future was put on hold when they decided to go on some kind of half ass run thus no returns on players that will be gone at the end of the season. My thoughts are different on the direction they went, what do others think?

Are you sure it was the GMs decision or the owners?

The owner pays the GM to oversee the club especially when he has stated from the beginning he knows nothing about hockey. Dario would have given his approval trusting in his judgement. The same approval he gave the GM to not call up ANY affliates from cubs for Rps disapproval of playing Chartier in the Soo which led to his suspension. He pulled a Trump on the cubs affecting all players, and this is fact.

Billionk: I value your (often negative) opinion on the Wolves’s Boards. Your input gives me pause to consider the opposite side of my own beliefs. You raise some valid and interesting points of view.
I don’t ever remember posting/telling anyone that their posts are wrong. I have posted that I don’t agree. My info and understanding about our GM/Owner and affiliates differ from your understanding. I won’t say you are wrong or what you’re posting isn’t accurate, because truthfully I don’t know the real truth. I would suggest unless you are apart of Cubs management or Dario’s best friend you may not know the real truth either.
You’ve made it quite clear you don’t like the GM but Your claims seem more vindictive than factual. At least it contradicts everything I’ve heard.

Not bringing up our affiliates because of the Chartier incident, you can take that to the bank

But hey, fake rumors are more fun. Teams have suspended players for missig meetings/practice in te past and they're not scared of saying it was the reason.

There certainly was value offered and teams actively wanted Musty.

Certain posters claiming otherwise simply look to stir shit up.

Why the Wolves ultimately decided to hang onto Musty and become buyers is anyone's guess, but it definitely wasn't due to lack of interest/offers.

I heard it from a very good source he missed a meeting, not fake news.

The Wolves publicly called out Musty and his agent when the trade request was made. I don't think they'd resort to lies now to cover up missing a meeting.

I'd venture to guess Ben Leeson has good sources as well.

yes Ben is a good source, but he won't rock the boat, he is a classy gentleman, he will go by what the team tells him.

Just don't understand why the club would call out Musty publicly before, but not now. Doesn't make sense.
