I'm surprised Papineau doesn't get more heat around here.
While I think Papinreau is around an average GM at the OHL level, I think he's done a good job of putting pieces in place for this year. I'll continue to say, that with a league-average PP and PK, this Wolves team is near the top of the league in the standings. Special Teams are 100% a coaching issue, especially with as much talent as this team has.

He's put the team in the position they are in now, that is talent rich with assets and picks to use in trade to make the team better. Adding the pieces to complete the push is what will determine what he is as a GM. Being a seller is easy, translating the assets into players is a whole other ball game.

Facts i feel the same way. Tired of waiting for an actual ownership or management that just does things simple. Why does Sudbury take a decade for one good year. North bay and the Soo have had multiple years of having teams go deep into the playoffs in fact one year lapses and then back at the top of standings they go. (Soo) Northbay lose most of their big guns in multiple seasons and still remain competitive and have a better head to head with Sudbury. You have to ask at some point why that happens? But it seems nobody really does care at the end of the day . Well the ones who make the decisions anyway! We just have to be used to mediocracy.

In my humble opinion it’s the type of players they draft. The Wolves always have a McCallum type and with the exception of Byfield their stars always come with “baggage”. Reading this thread for years I’ve found that it’s like Groundhog Day, same issues year after year from a fan standpoint.
I was genuinely hoping that this year was going to be different. I expected North Bay lower in the standings and as a northern guy it would have/be a nice FU to the rest of the league from the North. F$@k the Greyhounds.:thumbu:

If they had coaching this year would b higher up in the standings not one player on this roster has any faith in the coaching so until that’s addressed doesn’t matter what players they add

insane game, Barrie had no business in making this game close. Wolves know how to make it interesting no matter what lead they have. First line dominated tonight, PP was great tonight, Vondras is a mess, hopefully snaps out of it.

The consecutive undisciplined play at the end to give them power play chances was hard to watch.

With better goaltending & better discipline this felt like it should have been a 9-2 game.

On the bright side of this dumpster fire. Among players with 2+ GP, Musty ranks first in Points Per Game, Dvorsky is tied for 4th and Goyette is 8th

I would argue that allowing 3 short-handed goals kind of diminishes what the power play achieved by going 5 for 6 or what ever it was. It was encouraging that they had great opportunities and finished on the PP. They seemed to move the puck much better, but you can't allow 3 shorties and say the PP was good. The PP allowed half of Barrie's goals!

Rob's done fine! Lots of assets to move, a pretty deep roster. With Musty and Dvosky playing the way they are, they can carry the team a long way!

Might need to figure out the crease but I would be patient if I were him. There's no rush for that IMO. Give Vondras and Chucky a month to figure it out.

Let's see if special teams can be better. Coaching is the bigger issue. Bringing in better players doesn't help if the coach can't deploy them properly and get this team playing right.

yes I agree allowing 3 SH was not good.

Interesting to see Gauvreau, 'the skills coach' behind the bench too...

Seeing on their site he is listed as an "Asst. Coach". So 3 Asst. Coaches... is that typical?
