Commitments be damned, Wolves need to put in work to convince Bjorn Bronas and Jayden Connors that Sudbury is the place to be. If they could add those two you the foundation of a good defensive club.

I think the ship has sailed on Cleveland given he entered the transfer portal and is headed to Colorado College. Same on Hage, if the wolves had any hope left tof getting him, I think they would have taken a pick on his brother.

I believe the ship has sailed on Connors as well. This was evident by drafting Blonda first this year. If Connors was committed Wolves take a forward with the first pick.

That's because the local hockey associations up here are a complete disaster, forcing the kids elsewhere.

You have Northern Ontario kids littered all over Southern Ontario, and USA teams.

Luca Blonda - 1st round
Evan Headrik - 1st round
Kohyn Eshkokogan - 1st round
Nik Rossetto - 3rd round

All left Northern Ontario to play elsewhere this year.

With MANY more to come tomorrow.
Those kids all developed in Sault Ste. Marie and moved a year before the draft to showcase their skills. It's not that uncommon.

Scouts don't want to travel up here and there isn't enough population/money up here to support the elite hockey academies. The passion and talent still exists in the North, but hockey is increasingly an elitist sport for kids with rich parents.

Marty Turco and others have suggested joint funding for a single academy here in the Soo for all Northern players, but that seems a long way away if it ever happens.

In the past few years Sudbury has taken flyers on kids in the US and also acquired Hage in the hopes he would report. I think this has limited our prospect pool with guys who didn't report. Offence will be a struggle next year unless Walton, and Villy take it to the next level. I would suspect Musty back and Delic as the overage forward returning. Defensively McCoy and DeAnglios will be our overage group. That leaves dealing Van Vliet, Konyen, Yearwood and possibly Collins. Mauro, Signoretti, Pryce, Vandenberg will not have muchwill do everything they can to get Leenders out o

I believe they will do anything they can to get Leenders from Mississauga as they will not keep both tenders you would think being that young. Mississauga drafted Chlebowski out of Illinois in the 10th round, they have a history of identifying goalie talent as we can well see. Walton will probably be part of a deal to get him. Will be interesting to see what happens. On another note, Beites who we drafted is a Sudbury boy, sadly his dad Miguel passed away at age 40 from cancer.

This has been a very weird draft. Have not read much on any of the Wolves picks other than maybe 4 of them. Wondering if it was the same for every other team.

I do notice the Wolves never draft large up front. I think they need to pick some guys 6'1 at least. Teams like Barrie, Brantford and Oshawa draft big up front.

WJ

They just had a massive fund raiser in his Dads honour last week in Azilda (Hockey tournament) and raised over $50,000 towards cancer research I believe.
Noticed this goalie had 15 minutes in penalties in the OHL Cup! Is that a misprint? His partner seemed to factor in the top 5 goalie stats in the tournament.

Quite sad about his father though.

They have Walton, Villy and Musty who are all big up front and Wolves picks?

Other than that, seems D was the focus, not al awful route to go with the number of returning Fs. Shows a lot of faith in Villeneuve, Walton, Phrarand IMO. Regardless, feels like next year is a sell year

Seems like it will be. Maybe Musty and Mania will be a package deal to a contender. Wolves recoup picks and add possibly a top forward similar to giving up Taylor this year. Anyway glad they didn't take flyers on players this year. Papineau has wasted some decent picks in recent years on no shows.

Do you think the Wolves will move DeAngelis at some point next year?
Well we already have lots of OA's to move in the off season. Wolves will need DeAngelis to QB the PP to start the year. Wolves need to at least make the playoffs next year. If they are in the position to make the playoffs its possible they keep him otherwise they move him.

I just wish the Wolves never moved Protz. Would of been nice that they held onto him. That deal wasn't necessarily required to make imo.

Wolves will be in a similar place to the Petes this year, they could make the playoffs, but they'd be better served doing a total selloff.

The wolves will have Hague or ‘26 - 2, 4 picks and extra OAs to trade that will have the team with a pick surplus. The wolves are not at all in a similar place as the Petes this past season.
Should the wolves return Musty, Delic, DeAnngelis, and McCoy; they will be much more like the battalion this season.
