Hope the Wolves take Lindsay from the Titans for the next pick.

WJ
Has many similar flaws to Musty, but definitely a lot of talent.

Wolves go with Henry Doucet, two-way goal scorer. "Not the most skilled player, does all the little things right"

Also ranked first at the combine among forward in on-ice skills testing.

Braydon Lindsay, F, Ottawa Valley Titans
Lindsay was one of my favourite players to watch this year. He plays the game with so much jam and has the skill level to back it up. If you include the playoffs, he was the points leader in the HEO, while leading in the assists department with 46 in 41 games. He also played 3 U18 games, scoring 3 goals and 1 assists. There’s no doubt he produces offensively, but he brings so much else to the game, he hits everything that moves, kills penalties effectively, runs the point on the powerplay, and understands the game away from the puck. A player you love having on your team, and a player you hate playing against. His game projects well at the next level as he can play up and down your lineup, and can play a variety of roles for any given team.

This is nothing compared to Musty!

Guess it all comes down to which scouting reports you look at.

wow quite the difference in reports.

WJ
Different games, different eyes. Until a player hits the ice in the OHL I try not to take any of them too seriously.

Based on the reports on the three guys the wolves leave today with, it seems like they played a priority on skating and athleticism, maybe not so much on skill or size/physicality. We'll see if the Wolves return tomorrow and follow the same trends.

I do suspect we'll see a couple picks tomorrow with family ties to some Wolves players.

Goyette being one.

Any relation to Wayne Doucet?

Not a single pick in the first 3 rounds from a Sudbury or North Bay AAA team.
That's because the local hockey associations up here are a complete disaster, forcing the kids elsewhere.

You have Northern Ontario kids littered all over Southern Ontario, and USA teams.

Luca Blonda - 1st round
Evan Headrik - 1st round
Kohyn Eshkokogan - 1st round
Nik Rossetto - 3rd round

All left Northern Ontario to play elsewhere this year.

With MANY more to come tomorrow.

Just wondering if Adam Valentini was a USHL commit or did not want to play for Sudbury. Will we regret in years to come that the Wolves did not pick him. Many mock drafts had him in top 3

3 d-men through 6 picks surprises me a bit. With Taylor traded Wolves don't really have much in terms of forward prospects.

Goyette to Mississauga now.

We'll see once they hit the ice, but so far this draft just feels very safe. There are no risks, no home run swings, and a bit disappointing in terms of some lack of excitement.

I've always been of the opinion at the draft, after the first 2-3 rounds, draft for homeruns, you can fill out the bottom of the lineup with players you get in trades for late round picks anyways.

Wolves need some sandpaper picks up front. Coomber, Porier or Dalpe.

I'm a little concerned on the lack of a high end sniper pick. But maybe D was the priority. Hopefully they get Dvorksy and Musty back next year along with Villy and another high impact import forward.

I think there's a near 0% chance Dvorsky is back given STL can assign him to the AHL rather then the OHL next season.

I don't remember the last time the Wolves drafted this many Northern Ontario kids. Definietly seems like a change of drafting priorities.

In the past few years Sudbury has taken flyers on kids in the US and also acquired Hage in the hopes he would report. I think this has limited our prospect pool with guys who didn't report. Offence will be a struggle next year unless Walton, and Villy take it to the next level. I would suspect Musty back and Delic as the overage forward returning. Defensively McCoy and DeAnglios will be our overage group. That leaves dealing Van Vliet, Konyen, Yearwood and possibly Collins. Mauro, Signoretti, Pryce, Vandenberg will not have much interest.
