Congrats to the team for the way they played against Mississauga. I hope we can build on that success. I hope we don't change any of the lineup combos. Let's start to build some chemistry on these lines.

I absolutely love Derek's hiring. This is a young man that's hopefully not going to put up with any b.s. from the players and hold them accountable on simple things like taking lazy penalties, or exhibiting bad attitude. I also hope Papineau can leave him alone to do his thing. I'm hoping that this is the start of a successful year for this team.

Very excited to see how much we improve by the new year.

That Goyette one timer on the PP looked Crosby - esque down on one knee. What a snipe! Not easy to do that. Beauty

Notable and improved NZ play by our D, playing up with a tight gap. Worked really well early with back tracking forwards. Will Bischop was very good overall but specially in NZ. Also he had a nice edge to his game…

Toure was very very good tonight. Very good on most nights. Played a ton tonight. Easy o/a player next season with a letter.

There's not to many Toure's out there but wolves need another mobile dman. To many of the same back there.

I don't see Bishop as a regular next season.

Strong effort from the Wolves - good game

Massive improvement in Toure from just the start of the year - he's been our best D as of late

Very good game by McCallum

Anania was a penalty box magnet tonight

good win, to me still lots to clean up especially in defensive zone. Anania was benched after his third penalty, even though had a 3 point game, making players accountable I like that.

I don't mind Bishop's game, big, nice and calm. Toure played well, I would like for him to get shot quarterbacking the PP, he hasn't had a chance at this point. Let get a win tomorrow.

Whoever said a coaching change was required doesn't know much. This move alone has inspired the play of this team. Accountability, professionalism and hustle is what this team is doing now. They always had the talent and depth but nobody was guiding this ship properly. It was a mistake from day 1. Unfortunate because the fans have been cheated.

Just sitting players for continued undisciplined play allows for the rest of the team to take notice. They become more cognizant of what they are doing on the ice and take responsibility for their mistakes. They are slowly learning what it takes to win and play as a team. When Derek MacKenzie arrives it will only get better. They will continue to learn the finer details. We are slowly creeping back up into the standings. Most fans just don't know the magnitude of having a bench that will help guide and teach these youngsters so that they have the best possible chance at success in hockey especially if they want to reach the next level.

I have always admired teams that had coaches like Dave Cameron, Cameron Walker or Dale Hunter and Dale Degray. Those teams are always competitive. Hoping we can reach that kind of success with these changes.

Excited to see what Papineau can do with a tweak here and there to make this team a legitimate threat in the Eastern Conference. Fans will emerge and the madhouse on Minto will be once again. Let's hope they take it to Kitchener tomorrow night.

Maybe with a mini win streak and Derek MacKenzie as the new bench boss will entice Dvorsky and Hage to sign. Who know eh!!!

We have two other mobile D already: Mania is a pro level skater with offence to burn( just needs to learn the DZ a bit better) Draft eligible this year and Chromiack who is responsible in DZ and showing, with more ice time, that he has an offensive side. Chromiack Draft eligible in 24. I have to remind myself how young these players are…Toure is a Unicorn. Name another player that does what he does in the O? We are lucky to have him.

A nice bonus to have come in with an assistant coach for sure. But I have to ask what he does that DelMastro, Mintyukov, Matier, Mallioux, …Kuzmin, Kyrou, …U18 pick Mayer, …younger Nelson, Allen, Akey, Bonk, Dickinson do not?

Although not as polished or as smooth (yet) as some you have noted: 6’7 230lbs might be the best skater of the list. He shoots the puck from the blue line like Jack T. Besides having reach and nastiness every game he is improving his DZ play. He is processing play better every game, watch his zone exits. You have named the best D in the O as a counter argument/comparison, that in itself should tell you his unique skill set and value. It’s early, but I can’t wait to see how he improves by year end..NHL Draft pick in 23??

(203 lbs) I listed several not for argument, but to question what Toure does that not one other D does in the OHL. Is it good play without the cost of draft capital?
S.Mayer of the Petes seems like a good comp. Some believe that he should have been drafted over some that were, but the reason he was not might be that he did not elevate his OHL team to greater success.

First time I saw Toure I said this kid should get drafted into the NHL, just with his size and skating alone. I think he has more attributes going for himself than Isaac Philips when he was in the OHL, who got drafted. He has more going for him to me than Collins and Holmes who both got drafted into the NHL.

He also has a mean streak, he still has to grow his game but I find his ceiling is high amongst D core we have now.

I am really liking the reasoned tactics skill etc based analysis I am reading more and more on this forum. It is a refreshing change from the refs are against us,, the other team and its players are Jerks or worse etc that was was prevalent on this and on other teams threads on this forum. Thank you to posters for upping their game.
Obviously the change has made a difference. Is it Ken creating a different voice? Is it the methods and teachings of the new assistants taking root? I don't know but I am looking forward to seeing Derek's influence from a long time pro. It could be areal good mix of a pro and assistant who have good experience of dealing with the age group.
Onee downside., if the assistants are good, they may not be here for long.

A mobile dman is not nessarily a dmam that that takes the puck from one the ice to the other.

It's about quickness, getting to the puck, athletic, taking the puck out of trouble and go.

Scouts were out in full force last night. They were taking notes and Toure's play garnered many check marks last night on their list. Broke up rushes with his reach, angled guys out, used body position and protected the puck moving it up ice. Several nice break out passes on the tape, physicality, restraint and of course his goal as simple as it was. Get it at the net through traffic. Man a bit more upper body strength and smoothing out his pivots chasing pucks or covering the puck carriers moving along the boards. To be honest a NHL team that picks him may even have him play in the AHL depending on how he develops by the seasons end. We would be really lucky to have him as an OA.

As for Bishop the kid can play defence. He has length obviously and with more ice time given he will no doubt be a solid piece. Add in Bruce, Protz and Walton next year this team finds themselves in a good position of having a lot of depth to make deals. I find they have too many right handed guys at the moment.

Moving forward the defensive depth is very bright. Its obvious moves will need to be made going into 2023-24 season.

Toure OA
Holmes OA
Anania OA
Collins 19
Mania 18
Bishop 18
Chromiak 17
Protz 17
Bruce 17
Walton 17

Any update on Michael Hage, doesn't look like he's back from his injury to Chicago Steel. Also wonder how Andrew Gaulton doing after his injury?

Dear Santa:
I’m a simple man, a patient man, a dedicated man. A man who loves northern/Sudbury hockey and our Sudbury Wolves.
If I could ask for one thing (not for me but for all Wolves fans), could you please Heal Michael Hager’s shoulder quickly and whisper in his ear when he sleeps Christmas Eve that his greatest future success in hockey will begin in the Big Nickel playing with this young and incredibly skilled team. He can be a guest on a “Cup of Joe” and be added to every scout’s list of upcoming NHL prospects. Oh, yah..and leading the way will be the Mail Man and Son President Derek joined by Ricky D, RicoDman.
Yes of course I want Peace on Earth, the end of Inflation and the War in Ukraine over…but if that’s too complicated, just deliver the Hagester!! Early Merry Christmas and great game tonight Wolfers.

First of many goals for young Jakub Chromiak..congrats
