Sudbury Wolves 2022-23 Season Thread (Part 3)

When you watch the Wolves PP, you can see the structure and the effort of setting up at the top of the umbrella. I liked that Villie is on off wing OG umbrella as he is a pure shooter. Early in the game the puck moved slow on PP and not enough pucks on net. Later in game on PP puck and bodies moving way faster and Flint had problems handling our talent. Early in the game we beat ourselves with turn overs and bad reads/pinches. DeGrazzia goals gave us hope and turned our fortunes around. Don’t forget during our comeback Krawchuk bailed us out with some timely saves (Please reward this kid with a start or two)! Mania discovered his inner McDavid and scored a solo beauty that took fans out of their seats… coaches still holding players accountable as McCallum (2 assists) didn’t play last 4us minutes of game due to a bad penalty. 19 shots against is a good sign, 4 GAA isn’t.

Yes Krawcuk played well coming in made some timely saves. The goals on Brassard I thought were hard shots to stop, the first one guy all alone in front of net and had trigger on, once got puck fired it in. Second goal Flint player coming into the slot on top of circle fires a hard shot. I think the second goal was 50/50 Brassard a little deep in his net but the shot was high calibre.

Not a Leafs fan so I wouldn't mind that outcome lol
Maybe I just felt they should of played better in the 2 periods, where they wouldn't have had to work so hard to come back. Luckily, it works out Friday night. Doesn't often end that way.

Anywho, another big 1 sunday afternoon. Let get it .

Derek with the quick hook. Probably thought the two goals could be stopped and or he felt the team was flat and needs a boost. I'd go Krawchuk on Sunday.

We should tell the Wolves that. It’s the OHL. Like Berra said “it ain’t over till it’s over” I smelled a potential come back and while it was great I wasn’t overwhelmingly surprised. We got a lot of talent man.

Oh I guess they magically appeared. Byfield, no. He was obvious #1. Musty was debatable at the time and not so obvious, everyone was high on Callum Ritchie ( also a great player). Delic I believe was a second round pick so yes I believe the scouting staff saw what we all see, an amazing player. If there was a re-draft he’d most definitely be a 1st rounder. Same with Goyette, ten teams passed on him before selected by the Wolves. Would he go 11th overall again on a re-draft? Nope! Scouts plus two. Lastly, 06 draft got is Villie and it was a deep draft with lots of options, please don’t tell me he was the wrong pick…
I’ve always found taking a positive approach is always harder than being negative…shouldn’t be that way…
Sounds like I’ll never convince you, but are Scouts do a dam fine job for the most part…

Not wrongs picks, rather obvious picks. There were a few that had Delic & Wakely inside of the top 10 for the OHL draft. Every year a few prospects ranked for the first round fall to 20-30 because teams draft others that are a better fit. If the wolves used some early picks for team needs, the D and team overall would be better now imo.
 
I can't believe they called Soo goal back, I would like to know the explanation?

Seen the same thing called back in a game yesterday i believe. Net knocked off prior to puck crossing line. I believe if it happens again wolves will be penalized.
