DMac has made some good defensive improvements since taking over but he has not improved the selfish undisciplined penalties and mistakes that this team continually makes. The Wolves were rolling at 3-0 and Larmand's selfish blunder changed the momentum of the game. Time and time again players selfishly put their petty on ice grievances first before the team . This has to stop before we can become relevant in the league standings.
Brassard's play since coming here has me wondering if he rivals as one of the worst goalies to play for the Wolves ever. Is he the equivalent of Connor Burgess, as the worst forward to ever don a Wolves jersey. I have never seen such a large goalie look so small as he did in the shootout yesterday. His cross ice crease movement is very lumbering. Papineau should fall on the sword for recruiting a goalie from another league , sight unseen. Waived by at least 3 teams is not a player we should want
Another troubling aspect lately is outside of Goyette, Mania, Toure and Degrazia is the lack of skating speed this team has. We need to draft ,recruit ,and yes retain players that possess speed and conditioning/stamina.
I don't know if you realize it but saying a player is similar to Connor burgess should make people question your credibility and seriousness.

Taking a peek into next weekend.

Erie in Friday, at ice dogs sun and in Peterborough Monday afternoon.

lots of passengers today. Late push way too late. 3 points out of 6 weekend, could be worse, put this game away and focus next week.

Yes I agree. Players who didn't play well or do anything on the road. Pharand, Walton, McCallum, Larmond, Yearwood, Bishop, Chromiak, Brassard, Krawchuk. That's way too many that didn't come out to play to want to win. Just way too many soft plays and no hustle from these mentioned. Some others also had moments but still managed to show up and score or make plays.

Ok, not 24hrs, I’m addition to above: too much cheating and slooooow puck movement…

Wolves have too many players not showing up today and yesterday. Pharand we need more from. Bishop and Chromiak are struggling. This game is over. Sudbury looks like they went on a bender last night.

Pharand seemed to be the low man for ice time today. No PP time on PP1 or 2 and even with the McCallum injury, really didn't play much at all at ES.

Seems to have really hit a wall after his hot start to the year.

You're right. He has.

Ive said it all season it's construction. Credit to DM for for getting the most our of these guys. He's making due with what he has. Overall, they need more talent. Hardwork, a good game plan can only go so far.

I'm assuming Papineau will be the GM next season and from what I'm reading here wolves going for it next season. I myself not to sure how that will work. Im hope he has enough trade capital to make that happen because without it I can't see a run happening.

Team needs - more scoring, goaltending, and adds on the D. Need a couple of players who has poise, creativity, IQ that can run a PP.
Papineau is getting fired

This is an 8th place team, hanging on to that spot. I mentioned before that this team is nowhere close to a run next year. Goaltending is/ was never the real issue. They have zero defence. Brining Brassard in changed nothing, it took a player absolutely loved out of the room.

There is no #1 goalie next year, the same 8th place team core defence as this year. The Wolves can score, forwards are not what is needed. They need 3 defence men and a starter. Using the import draft for a goalie with hopes of a “Hail Mary” is a risk. What I see happening is pretty much what I thought would happen but the Wolves can still make the playoffs, then it’s a crap shoot. That’s just my opinion.

You keep saying that. Do you know something we don't?
I can’t recall seeing a post from him after the Sarnia game. Construction seemed good last two home games. Windsor/Sarnia. This roster is thin and will be for remainder of season in hope to build up so as DM put it after Fridays win, needing all the players to be successful he knows what a suspension or injury does. You can roll lines or roles, I think Pharand has been most affected. No Larmand means that line gets broken up. Now maybe no Collins.

I believe the strategy is to build draft capital and spend wisely next season and next. Never get too high on wins or too low after games like today. This team will make the playoffs.

The strategy for the next couple of seasons is mediocrity at best? The wolves need to be all-in or sell Goyette next season imo.
The 2005-06 born of the Steelheads & ‘67s, and Frontenacs if not hosting the memorial cup next season make those teams early front runners for 2024-25.

I believe unloading Goyette this year was the smart move. The team has too many holes to fill. Its very difficult to go from 8th place to winning everything in less than one year. Especially with too many question marks. On a good team, it would be hard to pick who would be a top four defence man from the Wolves. Maybe I get proved wrong, but I just don’t see the right players in the important positions on this team.

You can be aware of your shortcomings but better to focus on the positives while you plan on addressing them. Your point is well taken. This is the same team that beat Windsor in Sarnia and looked excellent in doing so. Hope is the magic ingredient….and we need more than a dash or two in our brew.
Yes some of the criticisms and observations mentioned are valid and hard to ignore but again, whose saying this will be the roster next year? We have a core but we are missing some key pieces. Especially the uncertainty in net.
