Maybe too many coaches behind the bench, confusion among what roles and input each has. Do we need that many? any thoughts?
I can't say the coaching change has helped the team one bit. Can anybody watching the team since the change find any improvement at all? I think just the opposite really.

As for underperforming players I think much of it has to be attributed to coaching. Burying Delic on the 3rd line isn't productive at all and having Toure playing up is a terrible experiment that needs to change immediately. Is this season now another write-off and an experiment to see the team under glass for somebody's amusement because I'm not finding this at all funny or even interesting. Haven't we had enough rebuilding years and "our year is next year", moments? I'm sure we all want to see our Wolves challenging every game like we know they can!

Outstanding post. Why can we just play our most talented players in the places where they will thrive.Toure ,Delic and even Assadourian deserve better ice time

The year is 2024-25, and maybe 2025-26 as well. I’m not convinced the wolves have or can have the goalie and defence needed next year. Saginaw, Guelph, London, OS, Kingston, Niagara, and apparently SSM; are pretty committed to being one of two OHL teams in the memorial cup.

It's a beautiful thing to see Musty #5 and Goyette #8 - both in the top 10 among OHL point leaders. The emergence of Musty has been incredible. He's taken his game to another level. It's night and day difference from how he played last season. I would also say just his poise in general with the puck is leaps and bounds better then last season.
The game has slowed down for him. In sports in general, when the game begins to "slow down"for a player, it's a good indicator he's able to process things alot better and get better results.

You can toss Windsor in the mix for next year too,12 of their top 14 point scorers expected to return,5D,although 1 of the imports on D probably won't, set in goal with Costanzo, West will be a battle, not so sure about SSM even though they are. bidding, right now they would be 6th best with the teams you and I have projected.
As for the East, can't see Niagara but Kingston yes.
It may not be as bleak as u think from the East side,be happy u are not in the West lol.

That's what I've been saying. Who came up with this goal that in 23 is our year. Like other teams not thinking the same thing lol. I need to be convinced that this team has the right piece's in for that to happen. Thus far I haven't seen that.

Papineau needs to be replaced if that's the case

Just might be. That's up to Johnston and Dario
Sometimes l think Papineau is in over his head. He has some players on his roster that are not playable or you get little very production from. He again goes into another season with one goaltender to hold down the crease. How crazy is that? What was he thinking.

Papineau might well surprise us all and do some great things in the coming weeks. I'll gladly eat crow with a little salt and pepper on it.

You keep saying this, but why do you think the team will get better when Goyette leaves? Not criticizing, but Goyette will likely be in the AHL that year. Same with Collins.

I guess if we run with the assumption that the Wolves can nab the first overall pick this year, then yeah, 24-25 is likely the move. 25-26 is out of the question, as Musty will also be gone.

If you can't make a run out of 23-24 or 24-25, fold the franchise at that point. It's frustrating how this franchise has put up essentially no success in pretty much it's entire existence. Wolves fans deserve better.

The east won’t be a cake-walk either. The ‘67s GM supposedly believes his team is built for next season; he has the assets to make it happen. Niagara has ~10 players born ‘04 including four 1sts; they are not likely going to be dogs.

Any chance the Wolves sell their 04s to set the team up for 2024-2025? There seems to be a bidding war brewing now for 04s as teams are jockeying for position for mem cup hosting rights. I bet you could extract good 05s and picks now if you were willing to put up players like Konyen or Delic. I imagine you would want to hold onto Goyette and Collins until this time next year though if that's the route you take. For example, Soo might consider Cloutier/Mignosa for Konyen/Delic? Other teams would likely consider similar things.

Just a thought.

Collins is a pretty good bet for OA imo, along with Delic & Konyen.
The wolves might be able to buy their way into contention next season, but it’s more likely a Goyette trade at next years deadline puts the wolves in the position for a serious two year run.

Not sure that guys like Mignosa or Clouthier, smaller 1/3 point per game players, move the needle.

The wolves owner wants the playoff gates this year. His GM could not risk not being somewhat competitive this year and next.

agreed, im not sure they would move the needle, papineau thinks all his guys are worth more then what they actually are to start with, hed want both and picks for one of those 04s

It really never is anyones year, teams get better, players sometimes over acheive trades all bolster a team so to say it will be a teams year is nothing but wishful thinking.

More often than not, yeah.
But teams can make it their year. Petes were ‘all-in’ a trade deadline in advance. Guelph was 5th/6th for the first half of 2018-2019, Niagara 7th at the break 2015-16, they were all-in, all the way.
2024-25 has to be the wolves year imo.

After the soo trade with Niagara moments ago even if the Wolves wanted to make a trade who is left that could improve the team from a non contending team?

I've seen 2023-24 as a go-for-it year for a while (Goyette's last year) but I'm starting to lower my expectations after the start the team has had this year. Still lots of time this year for the team to turn things around (in terms of play/structure) and finish strong, but I'm not expecting them to finish any higher than 7th after teams like Hamilton & Oshawa sell off.

Admittedly I don't know what the SBY draft cupboard looks like... but I would sell McCallum following his improved play this year; keep Toure as an OA (too much potential I am curious what he could become next year); undecided about Holmes but trade him if there is a really good offer otherwise keep as an OA if he has a stronger second half; I like Derbidge but trade him if it means he can get playing again in the OHL; not a fan of D.Robinson; unsure what to do with J.Ranger but an upgrade may be helpful if it can be done cheaply; I'd like to see Villeneuve/Walton get lots of ice in the second half.

2024-25 potential team?

Musty 19 Delic (OA) X
K.Walton 18 Villeneuve 18 Pharand 19
Derbidge? 19 X Konyen? (OA)
Assadourian 19 X X

X Collins (OA)
X Mania 19
C.Walton 18 Chromiak 19

Trade?
Gaulton? 18

Everyone making trades while Papineau does nothing. Sad GM we've got

Fighting with Niagara for Roobroeck

Right, now all the team needs to do is win.
