I am on board with that pick to cub, wonder if DM has someone special he lands during this draft state side with all his NHL connections that is a blockbuster?

I've seen a few Mock Drafts, Caden Taylor could be a possibility, big kid and looks like he can score.
It would be interesting to see if that was the pick. Seeing a lot of fans frustration with some of Musty's weaknesses, I can't imagine folks would be happy with Taylor. Personally, I think it would be a smart pick, someone who can really shoot the puck, any other weaknesses be damned.

Looking at the OHL draft media guide, one interesting thing I noticed, there are 2 USNDP U18 players on the list, 05's both with NCAA commitments. Wonder if someone had them added to the list? Either could be interesting as a player who can step in a player a bigger role potentially if they drop their NCAA aspirations.

Caden Taylor had a really strong OHL cup as well. From reports some concerns with his play away from the puck, DMac will correct that very quickly. I like the pick if the Wolves go with Taylor at #9

Some scouting reports on Caden Taylor (courtesy of @GermanSpitfire and OHL Central Scouting)

"Taylor was very good for the Mississauga Senators at the OHL cup, in particular, where he turned his game up a notch and finished among the tournaments leading scorers despite only playing four games. The 6’2” Taylor has one of the best shots in the entire class; he already has a pro shot, not many kids his age can shoot the puck like him - His shot is heavy and he is able to get the puck off his stick quickly, and with precision. Taylor has very good offensive instincts, he reads the play well and positions himself accordingly for good scoring opportunities. He’s also a really good skater that can get up to pace quick and beat defenders to the outside."

"Caden is a player that has a ton of talent and potential and can dominate a game when he wants to. He has great size, skill and speed that separate him from many players in this age group. Physically he dominates down low as he uses his size to protect the puck well, his shot off the rush or coming out of the corner is very hard to handle because it has pace and he can place it where he wants. He is a go-to player for his team."

Great looking player. Honestly, I know a few on her gripe about not picking a D early on, but we need forward depth. In the playoffs we had to use affiliates. Another elite scorer will serve this franchise well.

Maybe if we still had Debridge and Assodourian we wouldn't need the depth. Both those players left or were traded cause we didn't have space for them in lineup

which players?

Not accurate. Derbridge left on his own accord and AA asked out…this is my understanding…

Why do you think they left or asked to get out? Maybe it's not hockey related? If it is hockey related, what would be a reason for a player to ask for a trade? Playing time/ Role in the lineup perhaps? Debridge had requested a trade at the start of the season and went back home.

I wish them both the best and I’m sorry it didn’t work out here (for whatever reasons), I actually liked both players. But both were eventually replaced by Yearwood and Coughlan and we were still short and lacked depth of signed forwards. If they pick a high end forward tonight, I will not be upset…that’s all. Not every player can play top 6 minutes and in my respectful opinion you need to adapt and earn your ice time. Grass/ice isn’t always greener/whiter somewhere else.

I think, ultimately, in Derbidge's case, he overvalued himself based on the pre-season. I was also a fan of both players, but given the roles they were used in, I'll take Yearwood and Coughlan every time. Asadourian will likely have a very good OHL career, but he would have never made it into a top 6 spot here.

Yeah, Taylor has HIGH upside. Similar player to Arthur Kaliyev. Some love him, some aren’t so high on him, and that’s because he tends to float and cheat on the offensive side of things and doesn‘t always give a 100% effort, particularly in the defensive zone.

He is still going to be one hell of an OHL player, he had little help on his GTHL team and still finished among the GTHL’s leading scorers.

Who would be your choice at 9

These type of players easily replaceable. I would argue they already did with Coughlan and Yearwood at low cost

After the top 5 or 6 forwards I'm looking at Sudbury to take a Dman first. Beauchense or Cameron possibly Reid. If they take a forward maybe Griffin falls by chance we take him first. However I don't think he will drop that far down. So Moses, Taylor, Romano or a quality 200 foot player in Czata who is a D Mac type player could be taken there.

In the second or third I'm hoping for Sudbury to take one of the several mean, tough and big defenders available. Dietsch 6'2 178lbs, Dragusica 6'3, or Fagan 6'1 200lbs. There is another 3 or 4 guys that could be taken in the 4th round as well that are big and nasty.

I hope we take D, F, D in the first three rounds. If they elect to take a F first then F, D, D in the first three rounds.
