Well, I did it. I put a deposit on a new car. My Honda is stuck in my driveway needing either a clutch or transmission. It is 13+ years old and I don't want to put more money in it.

My new car is in port and I should have it within 2 weeks. I am nervous about car payments as it has been many years since I have had them.

My new car...

Congratulations. Looks nice. What kind of car is that, I can't tell from the picture.

Curious, are new cars still being sold over sticker price?

Good thing the Bruins are on the road for much of this month so that you don't miss games while waiting for the new ride.

We just bought a pre-owned 2018 Murano, but they were hot to trot on selling us a new car. I'd venture to say yes. The interest rates for financing aren't bad right now tho. taxes and fees however...

We were not in the market for new unless it was an incredible deal. Even with pre-owned they were trying to get us above KBB. However the math wiz @Glove Malfunction was keen to their tricks, and I only threw the key and told them they were wasting our time, once. (well maybe twice. cant take Boston out of the girl).

Borelli’s in Methuen on 110 makes the absolute best subs I’ve ever had. Bar none.

I’m not going to say they’re better than *your* favorite place, but they’re the best *I’ve* ever had. D’Agostino’s in Arlington makes a pretty great sandwich, too.

I work in DTC, and Sam LaGrassa's is nearby. So is Luke's (seafood and crustation creations -- lobster rolls, crab, etc.)

Pricey -- a sandwich from either is, like, $25.

Cheap bastard that I am, I'll eventually check both.

In the meantime: Has anyone been to Sam LaGrassa's (no. #2 on the list of local best above), Luke's, or both?

Reviews much appreciated, especially per best in show/your favorite,

:help::huh:

Congratulations! Good luck with it. I know youve been on the fence for quite some time now.
It is my first Automatic shift ever in my many years. It will take some time to get used to it. Much higher tech stuff that I am not used to.

All of the reviews recommend the 2.5 over the 2.0 engine. It sits up high which will help my old hips. It has a very high safety rating and Consumer Reports loves it. everyone that I know that has one loves them.

Having a car payment is scary.

My Honda was tired, and it forced me into this.

Congratulations, you'll feel so much safer.

Is this a CrossTreck?

Cars are priced high (IMO) There are more coming in than a year ago but most on the boats are already spoken for.

It is a Crosstrek Limited (Subaru) .

Not having a car for a week or two is a drag (living in NH you need one). I will probably rent one for a couple of days.

The price on a pre-owned is crazy.

I think the market has changed for the better. My daughter's car kicked so I sold her my 2017 CRV. Like Kovi, I was looking for a late model used mini SUV as opposed to a new one. 3 different dealers seemed eager to make a deal. I said I'd buy from the dealer that offered $1,500 for my daughter's 2006 Ford Escape that was ready to be scrapped. To my pleasant surprise, one of them agreed so that's what I went with.

Our Xtrek has been great....only normal maintenance ....after 8 years just dropped 2000 on brakes, calipers, rotors... no other big expenses before

one thing that is interesting is that if you go to get autoparts, its not listed in their computer as cross trek....

ours at least is listed a XV cross trek

you’ll love it. So much easier grocery shopping or luggage in and out.
100% this. I got those cold boxes from Wegmans and they fit perfectly and they don't slide around. I'll probably get a cargo net this spring/summer just to keep everything more organized

I have been thinking about it for a couple of years. My Honda is starting to cost too much for repairs. It was a great car.

I have read lots of reviews and know several people that have a Crosstrek and love them (@GahdenRinkRat, @Alicat and a neighbor.) I haven't had a car payment for many years and unfortunately will have to finance some of the cost. I will make it work. It will be my last car soi wanted to get one I liked.

So, IF my hip can take it my daughter and I are going to the last game of the season in Montreal. We plan on driving up. There are some who would probably smash my car if they saw "Ladyfan" plates.

My old Honda has 3 Bruins stickers on the back glass window. I got this car in 2010. The stickers are just a Boston Bruins one and a KEEP CALM AND BERGERON and one that says "DIRTY WATER TASTES BETTER FROM THE CUP" (It is a picture of the cup).

Years ago, a friend who I met sailing in the Summer right after the Bs won told me I should never drive my car to Montreal with all of those Bs decals on it. It was the first year we went on the schooner, and he was introduced as "Canada Tom" from outside of Montreal. He worked in the gally and is about my age. I asked him if he liked hockey and he said, "Not the Bruins". He is fun.

So....I will probably find one or two new decals and put them on right after my trip to see the Habs.....Just in time for the playoffs.

Last time I bought a car the Bs won the cup....
