I have Captain Jack becoming a Ranger at a solid 49%.
Ducks 40%.
Calgary30%
Mystery team 30%

Along with a 50/50 chance of being wrong that he becomes a Ranger at all. I'm not making sense am I?

In before a math genius rips me a new one.

Aside from the Subban stuff, a big takeaway from last night is Kakko's skating is so improved. His breakaway speed on his goal was great, in the last couple seasons he would've gotten caught. He looks great in the NZ and his skating while cycling down low has that extra explosiveness to it that is helping create that little bit of separation that wasn't consistently there last year.

Getting to see them in person with what amounts to be their lineup, minus Nemeth and Kravtsov, I really like the 4th line they have put together. Blais is a very smart player and is physical. Rooney was solid last season, but got weighed down by some of the sludge they threw on the 4th line. Before being hurt, you could tell that Reaves and Blais with Rooney is going to be extremely solid overall. They know how to forecheck and where to be on the ice to support and pressure. That line should be advantageous for the team for the first time in forever.

Kakko's skating has improved so much. Not just the breakaway, but in general. He hounds players now without the puck. Uses his size better now too. Just needs to have the confidence to do it all the time.

Miller looked a lot better tonight than any other preseason game. Fox is a wizard and he might be better than he was last season. Zibanejad is beyond ready for the regular season. Lafreniere needs to kick it up a gear. Maybe he is working his way into it, but I fear it may not be the breakout season we are hoping for. If he's going 75%, he's going to breakout.

Gauthier didn't do anything in my eyes. If Kravtsov can go in the last one, he just needs to be solid and he's got his 3rd line spot waiting. Chytil was very average too. This line makes me a little nervous in that it may not mesh. Hopefully with time it will.

Astonished by the Miller hate even after last nights game where he was mostly great.

Meanwhile Nils had a train wreck 3rd and its as if it never happened lol.
Nils 3rd was definitely his worst period, but that is to be expected with a young dman. Even the best have bad games. Fox had some poor defensive shifts yesterday too. Often your teammates can make you look bad too. Fox doesn't have to play with Jared Tinordi. Quinn Hughes gets turnstiled multiple times a game and he makes almost $8m. Give the kid a break already. He has looked pretty damn good overall so far and will get better each game. He has huge upside and has proven what he is capable of the past couple of years.

Tinordi has nothing to do with Nils bad period.

Fox making a few mistakes doesn’t change the period that Nils had.

Him being young had nothing to do with having a bad period. He was even younger the 2 periods prior.

the excuse making for him is insane lol.

Yea, seeing Kakko beat PK in a foot race for his goal is highly encouraging. The kid is consistently fantastic on breakaways with his incredible hands, but rarely got them in past seasons. Here’s hoping he gets in on a few more odd man rushes this season.

No excuses. I said he had a bad period. Pointing out every little mistake a 21 year old dman makes is insane LOL.

Hockey is a game of mistakes. There are hundreds of them every single game.

Zac has an uphill battle ahead of him. Drury went full blueberry tart on big strong defenseman with Nemeth and Tinordi, even giving Tinordi a 2 year deal. Miller will be the heir apparent as the second pairing guy with his size and he's still growing. depending on how Nils plays, he could jump K'andre and get more ice time to become the defacto 2nd pairing guy but I don't think management is going to admit Miller-Trouba is their 3rd pairing. Then Jones will have to usurp Miller's spot or push Nemeth out. I don't see all these kids still here by next season.

I would have been much more pissed had he gotten sent down in Lieu of Tinordi or Hajek.

Nils' leash should be pretty short though. Even if Jones outplayed him, at least he lost the spot to someone who at least has the potential to be good.

I think one of them is going to be a part of a package to help the team at Center.

I still don't really think it was between Jones and Lundkvist despite the insinuations. They play different sides and despite the talk I don't think anyone really wanted to swap Nemeth or Tinordi or whoever to the right so that Jones could play

ive got this morbid feeling that it’s Hajek and tinordi both here over nils and jones

I re-watched all the goals as I generally do late that night or the next morning, because I'm a f***in nerd.

The plays Fox made on his two assists -- you can either do that or you can't. It can't be taught.

On the PP goal I don't think he ever looked at Zibanejad, and the defense fell right into his trap. And yet somehow, he knew exactly where Zib's tape was. He just has the whole ice in his head and that's a gift from upstairs.

He's truly special.
