Even without getting any points, Lafreniere looks like a completely different player compared to the last few years.. The way he's carrying the puck through the NZ and in the OZ is night and day. He's not just trying to keep up, he's finally holding the puck and navigating around and trying to make things happen. He's skating noticeably smoother now with the puck on his stick this year too. There's way less "kid just happy to be here and content to be a support player" in his game this year, he's playing like he's a play driver on the team and he's going to lead. I really like what I've seen from him.

The second line has stopped getting results too. It’s all PP anymore. They scrapped together for that Cuylle goal, which is nice, but celebrating it as a “win is a win,” isn’t seeing the forest for the trees. There are some concerning signs that need rectification.

Again did you watch the game?

No one really did anything 5v5 for either team. That’s how it played out and they were able to score the only goal at ES down their best D and a top 6 forward.

People won’t like this but he’s the future captain of this team. He still had a long way to go as an overall player but I think he still ends up as a 70-80 point player.

Can we pump the brakes, please. We see some modest gains & immediately he's back to being an all-star talent. Let this kid break 50 points first without heaping unrealistic expectations on him.

I’ve been saying the same thing for 3 years, I don’t need to pump any breaks…..

Excellent game from Trouba, stepped up when fox got hurt

Late to the PG thread so sorry if already said…

But what a class act for MSG (or whoever votes) to give Coolie the first stah - kid will never forget the moment. Nor will I as I balled for 3 straight minutes afterwards.

OK have at it...I'll be the first to eat crow when it happens, but I'm not holding my breath.
If laf was given Vinny T’s spot on PP1 he’d be trending close to a ppg right now….ive been saying since he was drafted a more physical huberdeau. I still see that. That’s all
