It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Neither Andlauer nor Staois have been all that "complimentary" in terms of where the team is right now. There hasn't been a lot of talk about, for example, being ready to win now. Most of it has been about the amount of work they'll need to do.

Maybe it's just setting expectations low.

But I remember when Melnyk and Muckler came in, it was "we're ready to win the Stanley Cup and that's our only focus". Andlauer and Staios are more "we have some level of foundation but there's a ton of work to do."

My hunch is where going to see more change than people expect, both off and on the ice. Everyone from the "core" may not be here next year...
That probably encompasses the whole organization. There is a ton of work because they just spent two decades under Melnyk spending as little as they could on every area and he couldn't play nice. Total overhaul was/is required.

PD haters going into OT now

Did they get under your skin? You've made that too obvious lately imo.

It's a fresh start for everyone. With the exception of a few guys (Tkachuk, Stutzle, Sanderson), I think Staios will be taking a look at everyone to determine whether they fit.
I mean they literally announced the guy as POHO like an hour ago and the team hasn't made the playoffs in 6 years. It's kind of dumb PR to come in making grand proclamations at your introductory press conference.

This is exactly what I got out of that too. There's a million things that go on behind the scenes of an organization, from top to bottom, that have little to do with player/personnel selection.

"Everyone from the "core" may not be here next year". What do you mean by "core"? "Everyone"?

I think you are over-stating expectations.

The word "core" has been used mostly to refer to the top 6 or 7 players on the roster. Is that what you mean?

Exactly. This is a fresh start for everyone. Everyone will need to prove themselves again. Fresh eyes, fresh perspective.

Nobody can really predict who's going to be the GM and coach next July. Not even Andlauer or Staios.

I'd doubt they're fully committed to anyone beyond a very small group of players. A new level of accountability started last week.

I'm sure some will thrive, others will be moved on from.

Scrambling for what? I've been begging for a POHO for years. This is great news.
You are not scrambling - but in reference to Dorion's new ranking in the hockey ops department, some seem to be.

I think this is great news as well! Its kinda strange seeing our org make moves to bolster how we run things

Yes. I'm referring to Tkachuk, Stützle, Sanderson, Chabot, Norris, Batherson and Chychrun.

Those are all Dorion's guys. Staios may really like some, but not others.

Andlauer has owned the team for a week. How much faster do you want things?
We've been on and off the hunt for a POHO since 2020, it's about time we have one. should have been the first order of buisiness, but hey, that's fine. Leeder and Tierney are great hires too.

There's no chance in hell Staios blows up the core just because "they're Dorion's guys".

At least not unless the team craters badly.

Blow up and change are two different things.

Staios will have his own philosophy and beliefs on what a team needs to win. He'll have his own opinion on what the team needs to add and/or subtract. It's unlikely to align 100% with Dorion's.

It'll be up to the players and coach. Get off to a great start and make the playoffs? It'll be great.

Don't? The new guy won't have the same loyalties as the old guy.

I think virtually all of those 7 players will be on the roster this and next season. Tkachuk, Stutzle, Sanderson are 100% certain IMO. Chabot & Chychrun are about 90% certain. The only minor question marks for me are Norris and Batherson. Norris will hopefully recover fully from his injuries and become the player many think he can be. Hopefully Batherson will not be affected by the London incident and improve his play after recovering from his injury.

blows up the core, and changes it aren't the same thing, and it wouldn't be because they are dorion's guys, it would be because he has a different perspective.

If Staois gets Dorion to trade Chabot, Norris or say Batherson, the core isn't blown up, it's just changed.
