So, real talk, is there any chance that Step's injury is as minor as possible for a broken jaw, and it's being built up prior to Prust's hearing in hopes that the NHL drops the hammer on him?

Is it 100% insane to think that there's some chance Step plays with a cage on Sunday?

On the topic of missing the call - exact same thing happened with Seabrook and Backes. No initial call. Backes down, video replay goes up and Seabrook gets 5 and a game.

100% inexcusable that nothing was called.

Yes. I saw that happen a few times this season where something has gone up on the board and they made the call after the fact. Whatever. Win Game 4 and then finish these ****bags in their barn on Tuesday. Best way to shove it up their assess.

Clearly at his chest. You guys forget that Stepan is the only player in the NHL who's chest is located inside of his skull.

The frame doesn't even do it justice; Prust is following through by bringing his shoulder UP.

Probably depends on his breathing.

If its just a small fracture and it didnt affect the alignment, he might be able to wear a cage over it and play like that

Point of contact means absolutely nothing to me.

How he broke his jaw means absolutely nothing to me.

The fact that it was a late, blindside hit in the first shift of the game is the issue for me. Thats what deserves the suspension.

I don't know if we can do that. Refs will be watching now and it'll turn out that WE get punished in game for doing it. Not worth it, especially if we're down 3 of our regular forwards.

Refs had an entire week of Prust and Therrien crying about Price and how Kreider did it intentionally to prepare for retribution, yet here we are. Steps has a broken jaw with no penalty on the ice and Prust might not get suspended.

Get both. Normally I abhor injuries, but **** it. I'll cheer if they get hurt.

Hopefully the NHL does the right thing and suspends Prust. In that case, there's nobody on the ice I want to see get hurt.

Maybe if a puck deflects into the MTL bench where Therrien is standing, that'd be fine.

Ideally, we win this next game, and then go up 7-0 with 2 minutes left to go in game 5, at which point, AV puts out every goon we have on the roster and creates a blood bath. :naughty:

That would require dressing McIlrath, Haley, and Kantor. Legoooo.

I agree, but there is no doubt that it was a late, blindsided hit, intending to injure the player. beyond that, the player suffered a broken bone due to the hit. It should be reviewed by the league and Prust should get at least 1-3 games

The fact that they missed it the first exam and let him keep playing really makes me wonder how serious it is. And look at the stuff people play with and have played with in the playoffs.

I have some small, possibly insane, kernel of faith that Brass and Step will be out for warmups on Sunday after being "day to day" until then.

No one has said he'll miss any time, so my guess is that he's plays full ice time on Sunday.

it's very possible. When Zucc had a fracture in his hand he only missed 3-4 weeks, and the hand is a much more difficult injury to heal since it's constantly moving

Steps is a ****ing trooper and if the Rangers win this series I can see him coming back in the Finals.

But losing our top center makes the finals a much murkier subject.

If Prust isn't suspended for a late hit, on one of our franchise players, with clear intent to injure, after crying about the Price hit all week, i'll lose my mind.

Well, we are Rangers fans. We always get hosed in those regards. Everybody has to be used to it at some point. ;)

Calling Step a franchise player may be a little overboard, but I get where you're coming from. Step surely showed us what he is made of. Always liked his credentials (? is that correct, his hockey abilities) his mindset is what bugged us many times already. Hope he can be back soon, we need him.

Although, little OT, Miller I like very very much. When he is ready he will be a force, just watch out. We got a great core of US-born players. Kreider, Steps, Miller and of course McDonagh. They are all educated in creative two-way play, props to the US-youth-program.

Im not even sure if they missed it or it was just so small they couldnt see it on an x-ray.

Really we just dont know at this point, but i would not be surprised to see stepan back somewhat soon with a cage.

It's funny cause deep down we all know the Habs are winners either way. They could care less if a fourth liner gets suspended especially after taking out our first line center. Even before game 3 most fans wanted prust scratched in favor of Bournival anyway

I'll be surprised if Brass doesn't play on Sunday, especially after the injury to Step.

As for Step playing, that's completely possible if it's just a hairline fracture. I guess we'll find out more tomorrow after practice.

Its hard to believe he wont get at least A game for that hit, cmon.

and i truly believe they made it a goal to injure someone

to get revenge on price and to even the odds

They said they were going to do it. At first we were led to believe it would be Lundqvist.

What Prust did is so upsetting on so many levels. He targeted a former teammate, a guy he saw come up as a rookie that he played a couple of seasons with knowing that Steps isn't a very physical player and wouldn't retaliate. Very cold on his part.

If this is the case and Prust and the Habs had a beef with anyone it should have been Krieder. Instead of going after Krieder, Prust targets a smaller player. Very cold on Prust's part. I hope he get's 5 games.

All the good things Prust did for us in a Ranger uniform just went right out the window. He won't be getting a standing O at MSG anytime soon as a retired returning player in between stoppages of play during a game.

Again, I don't think that's how it works after surgery.

With a jaw injury, a broken jaw could induce serious infection. The pain must have also been pretty unbearable.

After surgery, the pain and the risk of infection are still there. He's gonna need some mandatory time to let the area heal. And there is really no localized anesthetic that can help ease his pain. He'll have to play through the pain and on Sunday it may really just be too much for him to handle.

I'd guess game 2-3 in the SCF if we make it that far.

I was worried that might happen. Kreider is too imposing for most guys on the Habs. I never worried that they'd go after him.
