Poor Tom.

The countdown is on as we are almost at tournament time. Anyone needing to replace any last minute cuts or injuries has only until the start of the first game at 7:00 AM EST to make those changes. After that the rosters are frozen.

I'm gonna keep Pastrnak. Was thinking about replacing him with Rod, but I'll take my chances with Pastrnak.

now expect to hear that the Bruins won't release him at exactly 7:01 AM

Well...that didn't work out on Guryanov. Love losing a player while into my x # of martini at my family Christmas dinner. Like I told Statsy in text...I'll try and get it changed when I got home to check my list but I was hammered! Stumbled into bed and now awoken to a splitting head and the panic I never made my pick. If there's any Christmas grace out there, I'd like to replace Guryanov with Stephens from Canada since they have not yet played. That's at least how ESPN and CBS Fantasy hockey and football do it. Swap until the team plays. Obviously the four teams that started are frozen. If this can be considered, thank you. If not, we'll just have to do it short-handed. Have a great tournament everyone!

What Tom is leaving out is that I contacted him twice during the day to give him a head's up about his guy. THAT was the Christmas grace he was looking for. I'm afraid he's playing down a guy now.

The way the first couple of games have gone, there will be a few teams missing guys.

Fair.

Probably me. Boston will see all these headshots and think it's better not to have Pastrnak here.

I was thinking that. I know I wouldn't.

Cruel Statsy Cruel. Messaging on Christmas day...with three kids and an in-laws from Peru and cousins from Italy, I had a tough time justifying sneaking away for a hockey pool :(

I'll live with it, no problem.

Right now, I am pretty happy that I picked Nedeljkovic.

This is how I stand after the 1st day.

The first day's action is now in the books! Khabby is already making a mockery of the race as he roars out to a huge lead with a monster 15 point day. He sets a new pool record with 15 points on the opening day breaking the previous mark of 13 set last year by Statsy. Sweden and Finland both with big opening games, including the only shutout of the first day, are mainly responsible for Khabby's hot start. Tade with a solid 8 points, backed by a big win from the US, takes second spot with WTK a point behind. There is a glut of entries after that as a few teams got off to slow starts with Statsy bringing up the rear thanks to the disappointing initial outing of Team Canada.
