What is with the debbie downers?

This is our time. We have a treasure chest full of prosepcts still. We need to go in and this is the type of deal that we exactly needed. DEEP down the middle now. Shut one line down oh well, shut two lines down oh well, we can just keep rolling them out when we are healthy.

Amazing time to be a Jets fan

1) That's really creepy to speak to me using my name, we aren't friends
2) I would have absolutely fired Chevy a long time ago for not buying out Pavelec, re-signing Stu, Thorbs, etc.

The scouting staff has done the heavy lifting here. I'm aware of the canard that Chevy "set the agenda" but the scouts were the ones who were in his ear to draft Ehlers, Trouba. Duckie called and talked Chevy into drafting Scheifele.

again, can we not derail this thread further with your "mission accomplished" posts and personal attacks?

It must suck for you, taking such a hard and ignorant stance on a GM that today, many regard as one of the best GMs in the league.

Like you have no leg to stand on..........oh wait, THORBS/STU/PAVS.......Lol!! Carry on.

I spat out my coffee when I saw this trade! I thought the trade was bad at first, but after looking it through this is a pretty damn good trade. Foley is headed to a team where he'll get a better chance to play in the NHL, but I think we gave a first because they retained salary.

Statsny fits in so well with the Jets, and this gives us such a strong team going into the playoffs. This team looks cup bound, I LOVE IT!!!

I wanted the first round pick to be Jett Woo.

I have mixed feelings about this and am not as euphoric about this as many here. There is no denying that Stastny is a great player and a great add for this season + hopefully the playoffs. But, is 20 games of Statstny + a playoff run worth the steep price? I don't mind moving Foley but a 1st added to the package? That seems a bit steep for a pure rental. I realize that teams have spent similar or more on rentals in the past (Ladd, Hanzel, Reaves) but it just makes me a little uneasy.

No kidding, I am so f*** ing stoked about this! Right out of the blue (or Blues!). I did not expect something this big this late in the day. I didn't think anything was really left to go for, let alone something so perfectly fitting our needs. I hope the chemistry works and then I hope he loves Winnipeg and stays.

Welcome to Winnipeg Paul! :banana::banana::highclap::highclap:

Woo is out again from concussion symptoms. 3rd time this season. He's dropping like a rock in the rankings. Good chance we may have a shot at him in the 2nd round.

Our depth is really amazing. When healthy it's 3x top 6 lines and 3x top 4 d-pairings, and the 4th line would probably be a 3rd line for some teams too.

Oh, and let's not forget when Mason comes back our backup is a guy who has spent most his years as the #1.

Pretty impressive in the cap era.

It will be a very late first rounder. And I bet Chevy does something to get a pick back...plus we're already flush with young talent.

Please do go on?????? Anything of relevance or still the same regurgitated meaningless moves that had not real detriment to this team.

Seriously, its comical reading Chevy detractors, still talking about the holy trinity, PAVS/STEWART/THORBS, rinse and repeat, PAVS/STEWART/THORBS rinse and .......

You have nothing on Chevy, just three basic contracts that each and every GM that has ever worked in the league, has on their resume.

But your poor attempts to try to tell the world about Chevy's incompetance do provide solid comedy relief.

Please tell us more about PAVS/STEWART/THORBS...... Ugh, pathetic.

Most of Chevys mistakes were in the early years...showed too much loyalty to certain marginal players. His biggest blunder by far was the length of Pavs contract...which handcuffed this team and as a result the Jets basically wasted last season with poor goaltending. He has learned from that and it reflects in Masons and Helles short term deals.

One of the concerns of being a small market/small arena/ canadian team was how much would ownership be willing to invest. With the Stastny trade it shows this organization is willing to go all in to win a stanley cup.

Also the whole Chevy gets no credit for scouting. Just a couple of weeks ago Hawerchuk specifically addressed his involvement on the drafting of Scheifele.

He said it was very very minor, that the Jets had made their minds up and wanted his opinion on Mark. The comment he made was, are we missing something because we love him.

Also a couple of years ago Cheveldayoff was on the road fro 20 days in February .... doing what? Holiday? No. Scouting. He developed as a scout and has a significant role in that, but he should not get credit according to some.

Love the trade and I really like Foley but he was behind Lemieux so the Jets astute scouting turned a third into a real piece that enabled a major trade.

Stastny and Wheeler played together at some point during the lock out apparently? So I wonder what the chances are they're paired up together.

They played together for Red Bull Munich, yep. I saw them play against my hometown team in Mannheim with a "GO WHEELS GO" sign. Both Wheeler and Stastny talked about and Wheeler then waved at me for it  Wheeler had 3 goals and 2 assists that game. Stasty centering him with 1 Goal 3 Assists IIRC. They were the only reason Munich won BY FAR even though Mannheim just got back Hecht from the NHL (hometown boy) and had Seidenberg and Pominville signed because of the lock out.

Excellent trade by Chevy. 9.9 from Russian judge.

On serious note = this is exactly what we needed.
