I wanted to do 5 days early but I just feel like every time I do that I am just a beta tester, and they release a day one patch when the game actually releases to fix all the bs I had to go through. Will save my money and get it on gamepass.

Apparently pre-load for the game will be available this week. Wonder when reviewers will get codes. I imagine reviewing a game like this takes time to really dig into.

Super excited, though. Thought about getting premium edition but I’m out of town Labor Day weekend, so it’s pointless.

What are the chances this game is going to be a giant steaming pile?

It's so ambitious it has me concerned.

Any game has a chance of being a steaming pile, but i trust Bethesda. Besides the bugs, i have enjoyed playing the majority of their games.

I do have to say that i would not trust user reviews on this one considering i just recently read an article where some playstation fanboys are planning to review bomb the shit out of this game. Apparently one of them even created tons of fake accounts on metacritic just to do it.

Lol, that's pretty sad, they need to get a grip. Fanboys really are the worst.

I had planned on getting GP for a month to "rent" it before buying it but I'm thinking if what I read in reviews and impressions from people that get the early access is good I'll probably just buy it day one. Thinking back, I'm one of those knobs that has bought multiple copies of Skyrim and Fallout 4 so I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I do hope they have a VATS like system where you can "pause" the gunplay and shoot at limbs and whatever. I'm still apprehensive of it being a suped up No Man's Sky mixed with Elite Dangerous.

Yeah I'm expecting it will be an exceptional game but nothing truly groundbreaking, an extension of The Elder Scrolls/Fallout but in space.

The tricky part will be how they balance exploration between interesting vs tedious with the much broader scope, kind of a merging of the proceduraly generated No Man's Sky and hand crafted Skyrim.

Even if the vanilla launch game turns out to have a lot of flaws, the modders will eventually fix them and make the game even better. That usually takes a year+ though.

Having played all their various games, I'd say Oblivion was that one which benefited most from the post release modding. Completely rebalanced and extended so many aspects of that game.

It’s exciting seeing this game available to pre-load/install via Xbox game pass!

Getting close now. Can’t wait to start playing!

Somehow, I missed this rumor from earlier in the week.
Gamescom is late next week (the 25th or so) and AMD has said that they'll be announcing new GPUs (probably the 7800 XT and 7600 XT) at the event, so we might hear about FSR 3 then.

If the rumor is true, it could partially explain why AMD didn't want DLSS in Starfield and basically refused to comment during the backlash. If Starfield were to include DLSS and the first version of FSR3, they could've been easily compared and the latter would've likely fared pretty badly, putting the new tech in a bad light right out of the gate.

I'm a little skeptical, but I'd welcome FSR 3 in Starfield, especially since it might be useful to me.

Got my code from GreenManGaming today, I'll be playing at the global release time.

Hopefully this is true. I feel like AMD's frame gen tech probably has a better chance against Nvidia than their upscaling because it's quite hard to even notice artifacts when they only last for a single frame. Frame generation is a game changer in the two games I've played with it (Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy), the extra fluidity is great and I don't notice much added input lag if any at all.

People were wondering if there'd be an special edition console but it looks like Microsoft is introducing 'console wraps' starting in October. Odd they couldn't line it up with the launch of Starfield. They look easy to put on and rely on Velcro though I wonder how snug the fit is to keep things lined up and looking good:

The other two styles are basic camo patterns coming even later in November. I guess they're testing the waters before going too far or potentially offering customization.

The groundbreaking part comes along if they let the international modding community do its thing and not get too much in the way.

I'll probably wait a year or so before playing it to see where we're at.

Honestly that has me the most worried. With Microsoft taking over, I'm more confident that it will be a lot more stable on release. But I'm a lot more nervous that they'll **** with the modding scene.
