I mean yeah that's the Stormtrooper armour because it's what George Lucas & crew came up thought looked good within their budget for the first movie. In the written novel for the OT, where the author tries to post hoc fill in some of these details/oddities/inconsistencies/etc, they came up with the idea that it's designed to absorb blaster fire but is terrible against blunt force which is why the ewoks could beat them with clubs.

Obviously we can see through numerous movies & series that it's not actually good at 'absorbing' blaster fire either.

If anything, it should be the other way around. It's basically the same as football pads, which are all about absorbing blunt force trauma.

Well, that episode was a clunker. I guess we learned that the guy in Dark Souls armor can talk. 90% of the acting in this show is just so stiff.

Liking the ship design. Love a space battle. The acting thus far leaves something to be desired definitely.
Excited to see live action Thrawn, hopefully next episode. Definitely one of my fav characters of Star Wars Legends.

I’ve rarely had this happen with any show/film, but I keep thinking “Rosario Dawson looks silly as f*** with that thing on her head”.

I can’t get past it.

The last time I kept laughing about a character’s costume was when I was a kid and cracked up at Worf’s head every time he came on.

I only watched that show to make fun of Worf and annoy my mom, who was a Trekkie.

Only thing I didn't like was the episode length, way too short. But other than that, so far so good

Oh yeah another thing I forgot to poke fun at least week that came up again. I don't know if we've seen these before in Star Wars, but another under the 'how exactly is that supposed to work' category: laser flak guns?

I think they're following the 'George liked and was inspired by WWII films for his space combat' thinking, which has always worked great for the classic pod gunner. But I think they're taking it a little to far with lasers that explode into little smoke clouds

No complaints overall, this specific thing is not particularly bad like Rian Johnson's 'bombing run'. I think I'm just being influenced because the last few sci fi's I read have been hard science fiction, including getting through The Expanse series. And speaking of which I'm just going to file zero G jedi combat & acrobatics under 'jedi power stuff'.

They went pretty late-WW2/Korea heavy with the visual aesthetics of this particular episode. The Sith (for lack of better description to this point) fighters had a real MiG-15/F-86 look to them. Sabine's whole tailgunner sequence evoked not just Ep4, but also the WW2 aviation that inspired it. And obviously space flight and combat in Star Wars has always been much more of WW2 dogfights than it has anything even close to hard sci-fi (nothing in Star Wars behaves like it really would in zero G, which is why the bomber sequence you mentioned doesn't really bother me).

If I had a gripe, it's the amount of ships in Star Wars that can be repaired from damage just by patching up a few wires in the cockpit. This is far from the only Star Wars media to do this. But the ship took a bunch of laser hits to its outside hull, yet somehow the damage can be fixed by a single person inside the cockpit of the ship patching together some wires? Really?

I have to agree, almost everyone is just so stoic, and it doesn't help that certain scenes linger on. Like, in casual scenes where they are just talking, they keep the camera on the characters for a few seconds too long while they say nothing and look emotionless.
Especially with our protagonists..

Other than the training scene it was better in episode 3 just because it was more action oriented.

The funny thing is that a clean lightsaber wound through non-vital organs really should be more survivable than a gunshot wound to a similar place, since the wound is essentially immediately cauterized and there isn't any bleeding, plus the impact isn't nearly as traumatic. It makes perfect sense that people would survive wounds like that regularly.... but it's odd that we're seeing it so often.
That's what I was thinking, but we saw the inquisitor (can't remember her name) by Vader in Kenobi, which looked like it was mid lower body kill shot. She got up and walked away.

IIRC, that was explained by rage / desire for revenge fueling her on. Similar to how Anakin survived being burned to death and losing three limbs and how the Grand Inquisitor guy also survived a similar thing. Or how Maul survived being chopped in half.

Perhaps not the best plot device, but it appears to be a dark side thing.

In conclusion, space magic.

Yeah. The paths of the light side do lead to a certain level of acceptance. If you’re mortally wounded, you accept that as the will of the Force. A Dark Side user is already perverting the Force and isn’t going to just accept something like that.

…something something abilities a Jedi would consider unnatural or something.

This feels way too prequelly. The tone, the way it's shot, even the look has that odd feel too it. It's like Felloni is trying so hard to recreate that era again. All the fanboys who've been crying for Felloni to do his own thing are getting a glimp at whats to come. Be careful what you wish for. He hasn't nailed anything so far.

This would have probably been better as a cartoon. It would have had a better cast anyway. Ahsoka, Hera, and Sabine have zero chemistry in this. Hera was definitely miscast, imo.

I suspect this has been written by A.I., its a shame they couldn't use AI to program the acting.

Three episodes in and we are already getting filler. Each episode has been shorter than the one before it. I understand they are probably holding back information/story lines in an attempt to build up the suspense and mystery for the grand reveal that everyone knows is coming, as is the current formula (A.I.), but they risk losing the parts of their audience that aren't total fanboys. The next episode needs to be amazing or this thing will start circling the drain, it already begins to give off a faint odor.

Why do I watch it? Because it's hard to turn away from a trainwreck. I remember the 16 years of hoping they would make another Star Wars movie. Now, I can't wait until they kill it off. Almost there...

The third episode was not filler, it was important to build the Sabine/Ahsoka dynamic.

Sometimes, I wonder what some people are looking for in shows.

It was 20 minutes shorter than the 1st and 8 minutes shorter than the 2nd. Everything we have 'learned' thus far could have been covered in the first two episodes. Easily. But, they had to have Sabine survive being stabbed with a lightsaber in order to generate the necessary filler to fill the gaps of a story that is ill-conceived and monodimensional.

This show is seemingly typical of the current way they are doing these shows. Formulaic. First, establish a purpose. Second, spread out nuggets of information over a couple of episodes that are actually, mostly filler. When in doubt, insert a fight or space battle. Somewhere around the halfway point of the season grudgingly insert a cameo of a beloved character from the original franchise (because thats what most people actually want to see). Then, drag it out for a couple more episodes with more filler and the occasional useful nugget. Around episode 6 or 7 introduce the marquee antagonist. Finally, have a big battle.

What am I looking for? Less formula, more originality.

They should have called this show 'Thrawn' and then introduced Ahsoka, Sabine, and Hera near the end of the season... It would have been a lot more interesting.
