Losing Cernak really hurt
It did but.... Vasilevsky .856 let's not pretend there is any other reason here. The best goalie in the world is having the worst series of his life.

Don't get me wrong it's not great but considering Hedman is being held together by chewing gum and they already took out Cernak, the already top-heavy Tampa D is on life support.

And still Toronto was a few bounces the other way from being down 3-1.

I think it's probably done at this point but Toronto really doesn't look like world beaters.

Boston toying with Florida with one hand tied behind their back is really something though.

That might turn into a disadvantage when Boston has to turn up the intensity. Start playing on cruise control for too long, and it's hard to turn the switch back on when you need it.

Leafs have a very good, well rounded team. Not surprising they're likely to advance.

They're going to put a real fright into the Bruins as well.

Their window isn't open too long, it closes much quicker when the stars are playing on gigantic deals, and theirs is going to get much tighter with a new Matthews, Marner and and Nylander deal upcoming, probably an added 8 million a season if they want to keep all 3.

I picked Toronto to win in 6 but oddly enough, TB has actually been the better team in the series. Andrei Vasilevskiy has been unexpectedly bad with A .856%. Just brutal.

Tampa has played well and will need Vasilevskiy to be much better to secure a win in Toronto. I think the team has shown enough to believe that is possible.

Boston's up next . B's up 3-1 on Florida without Bergeron.

Anyone like what they are seeing in Matthew Knies?

Taken 57OA by Toronto.

Would you give up any of 10OA Boucher, 39OA Ostapchuk or 49OA Roger for him?

Knies just needs to get man strength and he will be a problem. I think he’d be our top forward prospect slightly ahead of Greig with Ostapchuk 3rd.

Watching the Toronto - Tampa series and the Vegas - Winnipeg series you can see why Boucher developing into a good 3rd liner who likes to bang while having the skating and shot he has would be worth his weight in gold. These guys cost a 1st round pick + as rentals. Getting one who we have for our contention window with 10OA is great.

Now we need to pray he can stay healthy.

Dylan DeMelo was traded to the Winnipeg Jets by the Ottawa Senators for a third-round pick in the 2020.
What were we thinking? A right shot dman that makes 3 million dollars and has put up 27 points this year. Seems like the kind of dman we could use.
If Merilainen becomes a #1 goalie that's a trade I make every time without hesitation.

Yes unfortunately, how was ottawa so terrible at that draft table. Its honestly insane how bad that draft is.
Yes. Been saying since the draft we missed out on him and will/should regret it. Dumbass drafting there.

It really blows not being a part of the playoffs for so long. My excitement level goes off the charts for these games.
Same, its kinda weird being 'comfortable' watching hockey in spring for so many years when we have no horse in the race. I love watching random teams, but the itch for a Go Sens Go chant is there

Yep, I would go to as many as possible. Watching at home was rarely an option that I considered. The 2007 run got some costly though towards the end. Got shut out of the Ducks series, but was there for all of the other games with the exception of 1.

Toronto played better last year (when dubas Alledgedly did what he wanted and just got small, analytics players). This year they don’t look good at all but look at vasilevskys numbers lol. If vasilevsky was vasilvsky this series is very very easily 3-1 the other way. But of course it’s because the leafs went out and got Luke Schenn!!

He's lost so much development time and hasn't exactly impressed at the junior level. I'd be pleasantly surprised if he becomes an NHL player.
