That might be the end of Lack.

I bet they put out the skeleton of Miller for the 2nd, he'll probably also get his jock handed to him.

Considering how much ass he sucked in last year's playoffs for St Louis.

Broken stick

Another playoff game lost by a flimsy broken carbon composite stick. Sure hope the extra 4.3mph wins a lot more playoff games than they lose. At least tonight it was a forward's stick and not a stay-at-home defenseman's stick that broke (which drives me insane).

<---- Thinks wood is good.

Agree and I posted that last night.
NHL should go back to wood sticks.

Can't believe I picked Vancouver to beat Calgary in the first round. What a foolish idea. :shakehead

Well it ain't over yet but...
Probably the hardest pick for me, but this year's Canucks, to me, is like last year's Flyers in that I have no idea how they actually made the playoffs. Apparently it was a lot of Vrbata and not much else.
At least with Calgary, Ottawa and Winnipeg (man there are a lot of weak Canadian teams) you could point to a couple players going on hot streaks all at the same time.

I can't believe I picked St. Louis to beat Minnesota and win the cup.

Tampa & St. Louis are my Cup Final picks

I think the main advantages of the composite stick is its light weight which gives the shooter the ability to shoot faster on average and stick-handle easier. I think average shot speed is much higher with composite vs. wood. The top speed difference with composite vs. wood is so small it doesn't really matter, just like you pointed out. However, like you said, if they break all the time, you have to wonder when some players will make the switch back to wood.

Yeah, somehow I thought the Sedin twins would do well this playoffs, but that really hasn't happened, so I just look crazy.

I wouldn't have been surprised if they fell out of a spot when the Kings, Flames and Jets were all going on a tear late but they did beat the Kings in a couple of big games late down the stretch.

I'm not a huge believer in Calgary at all and even I picked them to beat Vancouver in 6.

It might even be 5 at this point.

There's no doubt you shoot faster. That comes with a cost though, and the cost is you have more "feel" passing with wood, not to mention, breaking your stick probably 8x to 10x more often.

The NHL really needs to get a grip on the "hometown clocks" at the end of games.

There was exactly 3.0 seconds on the clock on that draw, and the thing didn't blow for probably 5 seconds, during which Chicago had a scoring chance.

That definitely was more than three seconds. I know because I was waiting for the horn to sound before going off to make popcorn.

if youre on the PK you should always use wood…no need for the benefit of a composite in that situation

massive pevees of mine are

1. defending player breaks stick by whichever way (blocked shot or clear attempt that fails)

2. staying on the ice trying to defend with no stick and being toyed with by the other team…. (im all for the player making a beeline to the bench for a new twig or to make a switch on the fly and have someone jump the boards to get back in the play fast)

That's the third time a puck has gotten lost in the goalie this year.

It happened to Holtby once and it also happened to Marty was the Blues once.

This game has been great, but I don't expect it to go too much longer. Both teams look tired already.

It really is a shame that Vancouver and Winnipeg got in over LAK.

I don't think the Kings are getting beat up on like this by either Anaheim or Calgary.

Yeah, it still disappoints me that the Kings didn't get in. They'd be one more team in the mix that would have had the power to beat the Rangers, in my opinion.
