It's not. It's the samething we have. Our fans were way better in the 90s and early 2000s. The younger fans from say 18-28 are in the same group that are doing the samething as the Islander fans. They are the ones driving the You Suck, something that didn't exist 10 years ago. That hostile attitude was much less years ago.

But it's not because of YS, YS is just a symptom of society being more boorish at large. Habs fans were getting physical with Sens fans during this series I remember seeing, I doubt it had anything to do with Ole or whatever their goal song is. It's just behavior that is more prevalent all over the place. Our fans are no more or less boorish than most. Flyer fans don't need a goal song to be boorish.

And let's not further perpetuate the YS debate into the OOT playoff thread, please.

The one weak link I thought the Ducks might have was goaltending. Anderson was great for a good part of the season but had injuries and seemed to struggle a bit down the stretch. But in every game he has made key huge saves in crunch time. That was such a great game last night, well worth fighting to stay awake to the end.

Oh and the Blues better wake up!

The Blues are my pick to win it all, but I have a tough time rooting against the Wild. Zach is still a blast to watch. They're my 2 West teams, I wish they didn't face each other in this round let alone at all.

Didn't get to catch most of the game, so I'm watching the highlights now. Zach's goal was classic relentlessness.

The Ducks are quite good. Didn't realize they'd set the record for comeback wins this season.

I think the main difference between the Ducks and the Rangers is that the Ducks have just grabbed a series by the throat. The ability to do that is something the Rangers have lacked in this run of playoff appearances. In fact, the last time they won a series in five games or less was against the Devils in 2008.

You can't not like and appreciate Parise and his work ethic.

Yea we joke, screw him because he left and had some moments in bigger situations where he went invisible, but that guy is just about everything you want in a player on your team both on and off the ice.

Absolutely. I was as mad as everyone when he left and gave him hell when he made his first appearance back at the Rock, but I'm past it all now. Zach is still one of my favorite players in the league and I'll always have a soft spot for him. Great guy off the ice as you mentioned as well, he really did appreciate the fans here from what I can tell when I met him on more than one occasion.

Most of us who live in the NJ/NY area and have attended Devils vs NYi games through the years at the Meadowlands, The Rock or the NVMC, have noticed a difference in the typical NYi fan this year.

A lot of chest pounding bravado, tough guy syndrome and yes the most overused word to describe a group of fans: classless behavior.

All the things that we have been accustomed to with Rags fans over the years and what separated them with NYi fans.

Most of the older & long time NYi fans themselves will tell you that both our fanbases are different than the Rags fanbase.

A lot of us would agree with that statement overall.
We even personally know NYI fans that are good people and great hockey fans.

But, a touch of winning has generated a whole new group of thugs that will taint their overall fanbase if the older/long time fans don't do their best to squash this movement.

It's truly a shame that in their last season at the NVMC and on the run they are on, that opposing fans had to deal with this nonsense/crap at Game-3.

If it continues it will cheapen their run and at the end of day they don't want to hear it but, blur the lines between the NYi & Rags fanbase.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-p...claim-homophobic--racist-abuse-223408302.html

I saw some pretty embarrassing behavior after game 5 in the 2012 SCF. Some of our fans are nitwits as well.

On the Penguins, they certainly miss Olli Maata and Kris Letang. Their D would be much more dynamic with those guys, and Maata has more or less missed the entire season. And moving Orpik in the off season didn't really work out for them either.

But you have to give Dominic Moore and Jesper Fast a good deal of credit for shutting down Crosby last night. Moore was on him pretty much steady.

With Malkin I wonder . . . is it line mates? What makes a player disappear like that, maybe again you have to give the Rangers credit, maybe Derrick Stepan whom I think has been on him.

Malkin is playing injured, prob around 50%.

Pitts has awful forward depth, when bums like Spalling, Winnick and Lapierre are getting big minutes, it's always an uphill climb.
Now Bennett is out and they had to recall some guy who makes Joe Whitney look like Paul Kariya.

Letang, Maata and Ehrhoff out really hurts them too.
Especially Letang.

Pitts won't last much longer, prob only 2 more games.
They did not deserve to get in, if CBj had a few more games they would have qualified since they finally got healthy the last month.

The lack of respect for Anaheim is just strange. They took LA to 7 games last year, and almost won the Presidents Trophy this year. My preseason finals pick was them against Tampa. I'm sticking with that now.

The most interesting game tonight is at Detroit, and how the Wings will come out - I wonder if before the series ends we might see Jimmy Howard again. Because if they get goal tending they can take out Tampa Bay. And with it still just being game 3, it will focus in the flow of the series from here one way or the other.

I feel dumb for picking Winnipeg at all. I picked them in 7.

I wouldn't have felt as dumb if I picked the Ducks in 7 or a long series, it was just the fact that I picked Winnipeg at all.

Most of the team's I picked to win each series are ahead right now. Only other one I'm getting wrong so far is Capitals in 6 over the Islanders. That could still happen if Washington wins the rest of the games, I can't see them winning 3 in a row with 2 at the Coliseum though.

I figured I'd be getting every series wrong now with how bad my preseason predictions were.

I did pick Montreal over Ottawa in 7. Doesn't look like it's gonna go anywhere near 7, at least I picked the right team though.

That's all that matters when pick a series-the right team.
The amount of games doesn't matter.

Some guy here was giving me heat last year when I said Rags in 5 over MTL when it took them 6.
Saying I was a game off, even when the majority of people predicted the Habs.

I did predict NYi over Wash in 7, but if NYi wins tonight it will end in 5 as the Caps will lay over for Game-5 at home.

Dude is like the Pete DeBoer of general managers. He told the reporter to go sell ice cream haha.

5 playoff berths in 20 seasons as an NHL GM before this year, and he came DANGEROUSLY close to missing with a team that hasn't missed in 8 years and isn't a budget team like the organization from Raleigh.

Why did Mario hire this guy?

Lol you posted about it, beat me by a country mile.

LOL it wasn't even a good insult. Apparently the reporter he pissed on has been ripping on him all year. Still hilarious

For all the **** that the pens are getting, i expected way worse.

They have been able to at least challenge the rags.

The Ducks might be smoking Winnipeg with a 3-0 series lead, but it's not like any of the games have been blowouts. The Ducks just know how to win.

I did too.

Just like last year though, goaltending isn't their problem right now. Their Devils esque offense is. At least in the two games they've lost.

The Rangers GWG was also a damn lucky bounce off the boards.

TB annoying the hell out of me.

If they can't win this series, I think we might have another St Louis/SJ in the making.

Maybe I'm wrong and Detroit is a sleeper team, but they haven't impressed me.

They're one of the weaker EC playoff teams in my mind, not like Ottawa weak.

Either TB takes too long and gets a fresher Montreal, or Montreal gets a pretty meh opponent in Detroit.

TB should not be struggling like this against Detroit IMO.
