I think the west is way harder to pin down, any of those teams in and below the wildcards except the Sharks could make it. Not to say equal chances but I can see it

I’ll keep saying this at least a couple more weeks. I think the Oilers roster has the most potential of any of those teams and is playing way below its capabilities. They’re imploding but if McDavid can overcome his injury and they sort out the defense (they were plenty better last year)

West I think 7/8 make it, I don't think Seattle makes it, though I don't know who gets in because everyone below them kinda suck so maybe they do get in after all.

East, I think once Hughes gets back going they'll make a push. 7/8 in the East are set with Detroit missing.

LOilers will make a legendary push come january, McJesus still wins Art Ross

i've been watching them, lots of bad luck, its pretty hilarious - but its gotta end sometime

The Devils healthy forward group is way too good to miss the playoffs. Caps are rolling right now but statistically they're still mediocre.

Obviously, the Oilers are the big surprise in the West with Vancouver being a bit of a surprise. Anaheim playing above expectations, but I don't see the playoff picture changing.

In the East, I could see a lot changing. Washington surprises me so far, but they could easily revert. I wouldn't be surprised to see either Washington or Detroit finish outside the playoffs. On the flipside, it wouldn't surprise me to see any of the on the outside, with exception of Columbus, make it. If I were a betting man, I could see any of Pittsburgh, New Jersey or even Ottawa qualify.

Caps, Wings and Nucks. All having better seasons than I expected. Good for them!

Oilers and Devils are much worse than I expected. In one case, I blame management (Oilers). In the other case (Devils), I thought management did a splendid job.
my personal belief for NJ is Lindy Ruff is hindering them more than hes helping; he was a great coach to get the confidence of the kids up, but his game management is lacking in a major way

injuries would still have NJ some points out of where most expected them.. but coaching and obviously goaltending are an issue atm

Teams have played about 3 less games each this year,
This year’s equivalent is likely around December 1.

Points percentage would be a better guage than points, with a 6 game spread in games played.

Wow, Devils one of the worse teams in the East, a lot if people sure predicted that team wrong.
Injuries have played a part for sure but good teams can stay afloat while injured (Florida and Tampa just this year) and so there's definitely cause for concern.

Yes and the Rangers, Fox, Igor, Chytil. Plenty of teams can stay afloat with top players injured.

In the West one of Calgary or Arizona sneak in as a wild card.

In the East Pens and Devils in, Detroit and Washington miss.

The shocker in the East is Boston

I think Detroit will make it and Montreal is a joker.

They certainly didnt get or care the memo that they should suck now after losing both top line centers. Its unfair and Someone should tell them before this really gets out of hands.

Thats what a winning environment looks like. Next man up and nobodys making excuses.
