Last night they were together on 5on 3

Would you rather have two balance power, please or one good one?
On this team? You have to load up one line. There’s barely enough depth and offence to have one stud power play. So either your #1 PP scores or not. There isn’t much other option.. There’s no traditional quarterback D. And no true goalscorer on a corner. And yeah. IMO I would have Brown dealt or waived at this point, let alone be on the PP.

I would do Cloutier-Hayes-Gibson-Martin-Hilton. Sub Mignosa in for Hilton when he’s back and put Cloutier in front of net. Realistically, if that doesn’t work your SOL. Just start shooting and crash for rebounds 🙈

Right know it looks as if they are trying to separate 13 and 44 idk why

They’ve been mixed around a little bit but lately it seems to be something like:
Cloutier-Brown-Gibson-Martin-Hayes
Hilton-DeZoete-Andrew-Carlisle-Gillen

Brady Smith was on the first line before he went down to injury. Carlisle was moved to #2 a little while ago. Hopefully Mignosa and BMB will add a little offence here and there when they return.

if we think the hounds line-up looks weak now.
Wait until after trade deadline, when we don't have
gibson, Shenkel, allard, & possibly carlisle .

I have no basis for this other than my own opinion, but if I'm Kyle Raftis I'm keeping Carlilse and Schenkel.

Had Miller taken the reins and shown he can be a starter I think we all assumed Schenks was expendable but Miller fumbled the ball pretty badly, and it wasn't just a game or two. It was preseason and the first few games of the regular season.

And my interpretation of why Carlisle might have been named captain over Gibby was that we intend to keep Carlisle around but I have no factual basis for this assumption the he could be kept on to stabilize the ship.... just a hunch!

i agree. in a rebuilding year, you must have a steady, solid goaltender. you can't always be chasing a 4-0 deficit by the end of the first. that's worst case scenario. Also helps Charlie showcase his worth for the next level.

agree about gibby as well. I would assume Carlisle will be here the whole year, you need a vet to calm down the youngsters if stuff gets out of hand. hopefully Gibby gets a chance at a run though and we get some solid pieces back.

Relationships over championships is our motto

Give it up lol brown is not good.. and if my ass was out there I’d give a better effort and wouldn’t be afraid every shift lol.

How about our powerplay? 3.6% dead last in the OHL. Hounds went 0/5 last night and I didn’t see a single adjustment made.

Sorry didn’t see this before I posted haha
unfortunately brown has been a major bust. can't imagine how the kid feels going through the motions.. he has been given beyond ample ice time because of his 1st round tag. but in all honesty at best he's a late round pick with a poor chance to make an ohl team. if being a good guy organization means keeping him on the team then let's please keep.him off the power play and 3 on 3. he can't score and he's to timid to battle for the puck.

This guys team has been having bad drafts for years but this year they get Edward’s and he’s so cocky I know it was a bad draft but like stick to your own team lol
He's fine coming here. I enjoy other teams fans posting. Ignore him if it bothers you or keep scrolling.

Imo ashcroft wasn't even that good. Let him go lol. Kid wants school. Good for him.

I just don’t get this theory. That’s what I’d say too if I lost out on something. It’s coping. He MADE the team out of camp so the people within clearly saw something. The fact within is that Charles was offered a contract and walked and to me that’s concerning that it happened multiple times this draft.…. Raftis is garbage and we should let him go instead haha

What about Nolan Long?

Worst draft in Soo Greyhound history. Show me another that’s worse.

You’re defending Raftis like he’s your father.

our '08 draft is an unmitigated disaster. i have no problem with our fans or anybody elses fans pointing this out.

in my opinion the organization, whether it's Raftis or Lukenda, owes the fanbase an explanation of how things went so wrong, and what they plan to do to fix it. our arrogance and poor asset management has really caught up to us and it feels like we're circling the drain.

unfortunately our local media is too closely tied to the team, and function as nothing but a PR outfit because at this moment in time an independent media would be asking some tough questions.

Lmaoo. Touched a nerve I see. My bad 😂. Literally has 0 to do with Sarnia. I've said before they had nearly an identical draft to the one u guys just had.

Should be a tight game tomorrow!

Fair point.. just seemed like a random point considering he wasn’t a high pick that all lol

The other picks yes, definitely need some answers from the GM. But kind of a dick move to report to training camp, make the team and then suddenly disappear. I'm not sure that one's on the GM, that's just kinda selfish imo. Ignoring the problems going on, both of them would have suited up in every game so far with all of the injuries, missing out on lots of playing time so I mean that's too bad 😕. I don't really want to take stance tbh, I don't want to defend him nor attack Raftis. But I do question how you whiff this badly with Martin and Hayes on your side. Unless there's something going on behind the scenes that we don't know. Anyway, hopefully the new NCAA eligibility rule saves us and we can swing somebody 🙈. Until then Charlie is just going to be the one keeping us in games.

I see your point, but from the kids perspective I'm sure he was just exploring his options, which is totally his right. Right or wrong, he chose what he thinks is best for his hockey/post-hockey future.

Convincing these kids to report falls on the organization, and if we're drafting kids and 3/4 of our top picks go stateside I think it's fair to ask why?

Super fair point as well. Honestly, it’s true. The more kids jump ship. The less of a “oh well just a bad egg” mindset works. And yeah, Ashcroft is just doing what’s best for him whereas is the Greyhounds organization doing the same? Doesn’t seem like it. Joe has mentioned it in the past, seems they are more concerned with relationships than winning. At the end of the day, it’s about developing players for the next level, which the Greyhounds have been successful at. But it’s getting tougher to justify their development strategy when you’re never a true contender.
