It's light on premium picks which sucks, but also gotta take into account who else was gonna give up an '08 for Gibson?

Not London. Not Barrie. Not Brampton. Not Windsor. Not Kitchener. Not Kingston.

Maybe Erie, but they were never rumoured to be after Gibson.

I'm surprised we never heard more about Brantford wanting Gibson. They could use him & they have significantly more picks than OSH + would deal their '08. They could've out bid the final deal easily if they wanted.

I think my bigger critique would be all the picks being later years. At the very least would've liked to see the 4ths be from the upcoming draft where OSH has two 4ths, one being OSs who may finish last.

All in all solid return. Not great, but solid with not many other bidders.

i suspect these later year picks are potential trade capital for January 2027.
same goes with at least one of our 2025 first round selections.

point being, 2009/2010 born players and draft picks will be our nest egg to make a splash in 2027.

Wonder if his recent history with injuries is causing teams to shy away. He's only played 14 games this season after starting the season injured, then missing time again in December.

Good start Raftis. Maybe a touch light on the picks return, one more high pick would have been good, but I still give an 8 or 9 out of 10 on that deal. Got a good young player back which was the crucial part.
But the job is not done yet.
Now move out two more vets.

There’s another poster on here who’s made comment about Charlie to Kingston. I think the biggest issue is that the Soo doesn’t want to take a goalie back on and Kingston doesn’t wanna leave the Lalonde with nowhere to play.

Stacking these later picks gives the Soo flexibility in the year they want to host the memorial cup. We will have TWO first round picks to play with next year and could(and should I think) use one to add a stud at the deadline next year too.

Exciting times now..

And one could be an impact top 4 pick potentially that could produce in his 17 year old year.
With our second pick, pick bpa at whatever position that for a trade later in the season could land us a big fish

for sure. I've always gone back and forth on which I prefer.

Stacking up picks this yr & next gives u an opportunity to get more players that'll improve your team + be better trade bait as players have better value than picks.

But if u whiff on those picks it's a disaster and u don't have the ammo. Least getting all the picks ensures u have ammo to make deals.

Not anything to do with the hounds but Konnor Smith owen sound D to
Brampton good possibility.
Landing spots for Schenkel look slim, also Allard. Very difficult to trade
overage players when top teams already set with there 3.
Mignossa is the one that could be traded prior to deadline if right offer comes in.
Hoping Raftis finds a spot for Nordh even for draft picks.
Pinnelli going to Kitchener from Ottawa also a good possibility.

If I'm Brampton, i'm hardly set with Lefebvre. no offense or disrespect to anyone, but Allard would be a pretty big upgrade i'd think over him.

and they have a number of picks left and hopefully they can figure something out.

schenkel, allard, nordh, carlisle, still available.
Mignossa possibly but could also return as an OA.

I don't often agree with you , but man. That may be the worst trade I've ever seen for fringe players. I wouldn't even take them on a rebuilding team, let alone one looking to win. Wow
Bishop has developed into a decent second pairing guy and I can understand giving a 3rd and 5th or something for him. I think he's underrated.

Willis is an overpay, but he's a good player and I understand it if you missed out on other top guys.

The Hay part is just completely baffling. I'd argue he's barely an OHL calibre player. Lots of similarities to Mitchell Dempsey if anyone remembers him.
