Who? We have Solomon signed that we can call up for a warm body if injuries strike, but he obviously doesn't move the needle in terms of an impact player. Did you have someone specific in mind?

I don't know, is there any more 'veteran' defenseman floating around we drafted that could theoretically show up on our doorstep like Josh Bloom for Saginaw? To add to this, isn't the deadline for something like this February something?

Can we call up Jordan Sambrook?

Roster freeze is February. Not sure when, I think about a month after trade deadline.

- Owen West is a 2004 defenseman committed to MSU next year. We drafted him in the 2020 priority selection 4 years ago but have no idea if we still hold his rights.
- Ty Campbell is a 2005 defenseman committed to Clarkson next year. We drafted him in the 2021 priority selection 3 years ago but have no idea if we still hold his rights.
- Maybe we could still sign Van De Ven?

Theoretically we'd only need them for 6 months haha

With the Hounds having retained a 2nd round pick for this upcoming draft, have to wonder if Raftis was balancing out trading for now while looking ahead to another run in the future with Martin and Hayes at the helm, pickup a solid 1st and 2nd rounder in the draft to help with another run in 2-3 years

not to mention Gibson should net us a first round 07 from this past draft, or at minimum an 08 first rounder next year + picks. i think the strength of this past draft will make it easier to build a winner next time.

It's probably harder to get a desireable 07 first rounder for Gibson than an 08 first rounder. Anyone trading for Gibson is going for it. Any desireable 07 first rounder would already be making too much impact to the roster to make them expendable in a trade.

i get it... but at the same time if we were a few picks short to get a veteran defense for our present run and we're scrambling to retain picks to build around Martin it only further illustrates the importance of recouping picks/prospects during off years. i know i sound like a broken record but it strikes me as "robbing Peter to pay Paul".

i once again point to the bulldogs, 2 recent championships, presently 2nd in the East (in a rebuild year), and fully stocked cupboards for next year because they have the balls to sell even in 2nd place.

If 6 games above .500 was enough to get second in the conference on a regular basis, you might have seen the Greyhounds go into a few more deadlines at second in the conference since last they made an OHL final in 2017-2018

Selling this deadline though was a very shrewd move by Brantford, I will give you that. And maybe it only transpired after they saw the going price.

30 OHL cards are burned. Only APs can play in the event of injury, suspension etc.

All we can do is hope that moves are made next year to sell off some pieces like Gibson etc. to recoup picks/players to build around our 23'/24' draftees....all this being said though is hopefully moot when it comes to how this years team does and we see the team still playing in June

OS'S GM pointed out how things went this year, wouldn't surprise me Raftis had his hands tied on a few potential deals

Raftis also said that the opportunity to deal fewer draft picks in the 2024 OHL draft as well as maintaining some of the Greyhounds' youngest assets was important heading into the deadline.

Excited about the 2007 birth year group, which includes current Greyhounds forward Brady Martin and Travis Hayes, Raftis said the team did what it could to keep the young group intact while also being aggressive on the trade market.

Also said he had a deal he couldn’t get done because he ran out of time. How do you run out of time hahaha. Likely looking for a cheap D man?
