That makes 25 signed players going into next season, including our 2 x OAs. Training camp should be a lot more competitive than last year at least.

Not trying to stir up anything here or continue the uncertainty, but does Martin become a trade asset at the deadline as the Soo looks to be a contender this year. You don’t have a deep draft pick cupboard.

Or, is he too valuable to this year’s team at 16 years old? Example: Dickinson played a big part of London’s run this year at just 16 years old.

If he comes as advertised I can't see him traded. We are weak in the forwards, so there will be plenty of opportunity in the first half for him to carve out an important role for himself.

Sigh, yes our draft pick cupboard is thin. Hoping Raftis does not empty it all out.

The Soo are going to be better than this past season but they won't be contenders for 23/24. Think there's a clear top four in the west with London, Saginaw, Guelph, and Owen Sound. The Soo I think are in the next group with Windsor and Flint. They are still going to be a solid team though. Could see them surpassing Owen Sound for the 4 seed. But would be foolish to deal off Martin when he would be a solid contributor in 24/25, a season they would more likely challenge for a title in.

I have seen a few people suggest the Soo will be good in 24/25. I am not so sure. What does everyone else think? I have a real hard time seeing this roster as better in 24/25 than it will be in 23/24. I like us much better in 25/26 personally.

24/25 Roster:

2020, 7th - Allard, Owen L (C)
2020, 13th - Van De Ven, Caleb R (RD)

2021, 4th - Gibson, Andrew R (RD)
2021, 10th - Clattenburg, Connor L (LW)
2022U, 1st - Good, Dustin R (RW)

Lot of good pieces there. Clouthier, Mignosa, Gibson, Brown, Kostov, Virgillio, Vader. Plus imports. Think that plenty to start with and add to with trades.

If we sold him this year I'd be very disappointed. We are nowhere near good enough to compete. We will be lucky to finish 5th. The one thing that may give us false hope is Sarnia and windsor will be in our division and they will probably be full on rebuild mode. Hopefully we can finally sell and build the right way for 26/27. I know it's beating a dead horse but please for the love of all that's good, don't think we can go on a run lol.

Sarnia will be full on rebuild. Windsor, although adding a lot at the deadline, still has many very valuable young pieces to build around. I don't think they will be push overs.

I think 25/26 is a potential competing year with an 18 year old Martin.

I do think we are going to be much better than last year and competitive but I'm going leave this discussion for after training camp.

Oh, man. Why wait until September? We got long months to kill now!

I don't think anyone would argue the following:
1) We will be much better than last year
2) We will be competitive

But those are very different than:
1) We will be great
2) We will contend

Dickinson wanted to be dealt and was.

Martin sure sounds happy to me. Hounds’ brass sure sound thrilled to have him.

Apples - Oranges.

Trading Martone was flat-out dumb. They’ll regret that deal, if sober.
