I'd give Schneider a run at the start of the season with the provision that he goes right back to Buffalo if he struggles with Ks at all.

I also feel like Clement has to make this team.

My biggest worry is that Espinal's "he's a veteran and former all-star" status is going to make him immune to roster management decisions and that he's going to eventually cost Clement his roster spot and then we lose him (Clement) on waivers for nothing.
It would be insane for them to keep Espinal over Clement but I know what you're saying. I don't think anyone in here could care less if they just gave him away.

I think this team will be near the bottom of the division this year. What do you guys think?
That you're wrong

It's a good team. Bats need to be better than last year.

The problem is the division is tough. Even the Red Sox have a decent team. I don't think the Rays will be as good as last year. Yankees will improve but injuries are already a concern. O's look very good though.

Definitely think the Jays will be in the playoff hunt.

It was good to see Schneider in LF yesterday. They could use Davis in LF, Clement at 2B and Turner at 3B vs lefties.

1. Springer
2. Vlad Jr.
3. Bichette
4. Turner
5. Kirk
6. Jansen
7. Schneider
8. Clement
9. Varsho

To be honest, I think any team can win this division. Even the Red Sox. Yankees are definitely overrated just because they are the “Yankees”. It makes no sense being pessimistic. We’ll see where we end up. Definitely a tough division. But it makes the season fun.

The Yankees rotation could be interesting:

Cole is going for imaging and could be out for the year.
Stroman is realistically their 2 (even though they like to call him their 4) and he's a decent mid-rotation guy with some real 2 upside.
Rodon has a sudden and unexplained loss of velocity (which hints that he could be headed to TJ). He's throwing 91-92 this year.
Cortez had injuries last year but his balls in play profile also changed (and not for the better).
Schmidt profiles as a mid-backend starter.

Also, one of the things that they've quietly hinted at is that Judge is likely to be on permanent load management where he only plays something like 100 games in the field (max) with a bunch of games at DH to keep him in the lineup.

Edit:
Boston's rotation is in rough shape without Giolito.

Pivetta is realistically a back-end starter.
The rest of the guys are young (but might have potential), though guys like Whitlock and Houck should also have innings caps.

Contrasting those teams with Toronto:

Gausman prefers simulated games (and Toronto prefers him in simulated games)
Bassitt has 9.1 innings of decent baseball
Berrios pitches today and has thrown 5 innings of decent baseball
Kikuchi's velocity is there, and he didn't panic last start even when things went wrong so he's still on track for 4.

Manoah is behind and might not be with the team out of the gate, since he's only pitched once and needs to ramp up from basically nothing.
Francis is pitching like a major leaguer and could realistically take that 5th rotation spot.
White had some good moments early, but his velocity was down last game (which should be watched).

Edit: I wouldn't be worried about Baltimore or TB either because while each of their #1s had bad outings (against Toronto), it's one bad start and the rest of their rotations seem to be lining up fine.

Did Berrios get hurt? Why did he only go 0.2 IP today? I am not watching the game, I am at work and just looking at the box score.

They pulled him at 0.2 to let Fraze finish the inning because Berrios had 25 pitches. He came back out for the 2nd.

That guy in the front row of the stands with the white Yankees shirt with gold lettering looks like the most New York guy in existence. I would be disappointed if he didn't talk in a very thick bronx accent.

Nice to see Kirk really took his offseason training seriously this year
