Definitely on the clement wagon. All he has done in triple a and his short stint last year was hit. He waa 10/12 hitting with risp. Sure small sample size but this team needs guys that can hit. Schneider can go down to start the year and come back when he is hitting well

The thing about Clement is that his K rate dropped when he became a Jay, which is the thing that could make him a viable major leaguer.

Another homerun for Clement

The question is what other position can Clement play other then 2B? Because he won't take at bats from Bo at SS.

Hockey's Mecca
IKF played the outfield last year and was decent.

No, people here aren't buying Schneider's projection because it ignores his creeping K rate which will cripple his projections if he can't keep it in check.

Again, no one is suggesting that another OF wouldn't be nice, they are just arguing that Schneider doesn't currently project as a MLB piece with the way he's played.

A JD Davis and an actual outfielder with Espinal being moved would be a sneaky way to improve in a hurry.
His 0.3 fWAR in LF last year was inflated by a coincidental 135 wRC+ in the 105 PAs he got in LF and 164 wRC+ in 18 PAs at RF, despite his totals being a 82 wRC+ in 361 PAs on the season. He projects as a 0 fWAR corner OF, and at CF he's the 3rd stringer behind KK and Varsho.

The only positions on the field IKF should be playing this season are 3B, backup SS, situational 2B, and maybe some backup CF if one of Varsho and/or KK miss time.

Also with Schneider you're putting way too much stock into spring training. Agreed that there would be a fit for JD Davis on this team though.

IMO your expectations of Schneider are way too high.....as are the projections.

I'll bet he spends a significant amount of time in Buffalo. He has a hole in his plate coverage that needs fixing.

It's not putting too much stock into spring training. Schneider's K dramatically rose in his second month in the bigs last year and has continued into this year. As a guy whose K rate has always been a concern, he needs to get himself in a good place before he's a call up option.

Eflin having another interesting start...

On the one hand TB has made 5 errors, but on the other they've been a lot of hard hit balls even on the errors and a quarter of his outs were Escobar (with his .303 OPS)

Did Ezequiel Carerra die or something?:sarcasm:

The fact that you can't answer that question yourself is a strong indicator that it doesn't really matter. :sarcasm:

(slightly more seriously but still not serious, I like using "memorial" as a joke in naming things after finding out that the WHL hockey arena in Victoria is called the "Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre" in spite of the fact that a) Save-On-Foods is not a person and b) it still very much exists. Memorializing something that doesn't need it is funny to me)

I'd give Schneider a run at the start of the season with the provision that he goes right back to Buffalo if he struggles with Ks at all.

I also feel like Clement has to make this team.

My biggest worry is that Espinal's "he's a veteran and former all-star" status is going to make him immune to roster management decisions and that he's going to eventually cost Clement his roster spot and then we lose him (Clement) on waivers for nothing.

In addition to the Cole news, Judge is apparently in load management mode already

Having Judge play CF is a recipe for disaster.

Yanks starting pitching looks like it could be in trouble. Stroman's stuff hasn't been good and Rodon's velo is down a lot. Best case scenario Cole misses a few starts but if he misses a lot of time, huge blows to the Yankees.

Is Vladdy breaking down physically already after a few weeks in Spring Training?

They could/should just option Espinal, but for some reason the team tends to try avoiding optioning arb players even if they are still optionable.

Like Adam Cimber last season, he was optionable still having less than 5 years of MLB service time, but they just phantom 60-day ILed him instead.
I was going to say they should option him but didn't know if he still could be
