School unhappy after soccer opponent sets record for goals
KINGSLEY, Mich. (AP) — A high school soccer player in northern Michigan broke records for most goals in a game, but not everyone is cheering.
Kevin Hubbell of Benzie Central, one of the best players in the state, scored 16 goals against Kingsley. The Sept. 29 game was declared over at halftime — a 17-0 wipeout of a winless team.
That’s why some people are upset.
“To go after a personal record like that at the cost of another team’s dignity was a little uncalled for,” Kingsley coach Tim VanWingerden said. “Soccer is not the right place for that. Soccer is a gentleman’s sport.”

Quit whining and be a better coach. The kids have to learn life isn't fair.
Soccer is a gentleman's sport?
So I take it they don't teach kids to hit each other in the nuts before corner kicks to gain an advantage? Or use metal dubs on the shoes?
I think they should hire me as a coach.

I think you had a sadistic coach.
If I had played against a team that started wrecking each other in the balls before corners, they would keep getting corners. Heck, just for the spectacle. They'd have an advantage for a little while, sure, but eventually it'd have to take a toll on the players.

Florida has agency's? I was under the assumption the state government was run out of a trailer park in Tallahassee.

They have agencies that are deliberately set up to make things arduous to communicate with them, let alone obtain services or information. That's been admitted by the state government.

Now this is a generational talent. What he does is like scoring a hat trick from behind the net. There's no one else with his technique.

Will fix everything

That would probably make it more efficient

More accessible, certainly.

I've been very fortunate during my time here my only real interaction with the state government is registering vehicles, which are done via the county level DMVs.

MM is a supreme talent. His technique has always been outstanding. Having Mancuso and Chris Buck both on board is putting a lot of revstars in peoples hands.

Julian Lage has been a significant influence of mine. Monster cat. Great tone. Those Ron Ellis Dynasonics are amazing.

I was pleasantly surprised a couple of weeks ago when I got into my 17yo's car and when the music started it was a Nirvana Spotify playlist.

My daughters grew up listening to Queen; in particular Bohemian Rhapsody. I would move them around as toddlers to the music and they made me do it over and over again. Unfortunately, the over playing of the song has resulted in my older daughter now hating it. The more I try to make her see the error of her ways, the more she hates it.

Last week I arrived early to pick her up from her Homecoming dance. Since it was outside in a tent, I was able to enjoy hearing the entire high school sing along to Sweet Caroline.

Then came the last song of the night. The DJ then announces, "this one is by request, actually there were many requests for it". I sat there wondering what the kids would want for their last song at a dance in 2021. The smile on my face when Bohemian Rhapsody started playing was probably from ear to ear.

If you're in NYC on Dec 4th he's playing at Le Poisson Rouge.

applied for a mortgage today. gotta move in the winter which sucks, but got the house a good amount under asking so i can’t complain
Youre pretty lucky, lots of places you have to bid over to get a shot, im refinancing my place again to take advantage of the low rates before the fed is forced to raise them to try and stave off inflation.

i waited for the market to settle down before i started looking. in the summer people were rabid, paying 50k over for houses that aren’t even really that nice. once school starts families leave the marketplace, and no one wants to move in the middle of winter.

i think at least in the city proper there was a lot of panic buying which was exacerbated by extremely low rates. seems like all of the dumb buyers have either already bought for stupid prices or simply don’t want to buy during the fall/winter

to comment on the overall macro picture, i imagine rates will stay low for some time, maybe upwards of another year or two. not buying the inflation narrative that seems to be spewed out ad nauseum by the major business news outlets. if i had to guess, it’s more a combination of a.) catch up inflation from the deflationary period at the beginning of the panic and b.) temporary supply chain disruptions caused by virus restrictions.

the fed won’t do anything drastic without signaling so well ahead of time. i mean, look at how long it took them start tapering bond purchases. and we’re only talking 15 billion less than 100 billion+ they’ve been buying each month to backstop lenders.

either way, definitely better to refi sooner rather than later if you have the cash for closing costs. could save you 30-50k over the life of the loan if your previous rate was in the 4-5 range like most were prior to the pandemic. i just locked in 3.2 on a west side double. prolly not ever going to get anything better than that

Old Brit saying ... Football is a gentleman's sport played by hooligans. Rugby is a hooligan's sport played by gentlemen.

Bit of class bias in there, rugby being the sport of choice in British "public" schools attended by children of the elite.
