And to think a lot of people wanted to jettison Lind this offseason. He's been one of our best hitters.
Low ceiling, safe pick more or less?
Seems like he could be a serviceable bottom of the rotation guy if he can harness his control
Anyone get the impression, given the last few Jays picks, that they're looking to save enough to sign their first three picks?

Not really, no. They can probably save a bit on Hoffman to start with because he doesn't have a lot of leverage. The tougher sign in their early set is mostly Reid-Foley
Beede getting hit hard in the NCAA Tournament: 6 ER, 4 walks, 2ks, in 5 innings !!
He's really got the calling card of a potential bust. He could end up being a very regrettable pick
Thanks, Beede!
They really should just let guys who are 100% dead-set on going to college with no possibility of signing opt out of the draft. That way the ones on the fence can stay and see what sort of money gets offered, and the Beedes of the world don't have to go through the song and dance of a team wasting a pick on a gamble that their stance isn't a bluff.
Mmmhmm. In a couple years, we'll be saying the same thing to ol' Phil Bickford.
This marks the third straight year that Virginia's best high school pitching prospect has requested to be left out of the Draft. In 2012, James River High (Midlothian) left-hander Nathan Kirby went a step further and made himself ineligible for the Draft by declining to submit to a mandatory drug test after the Major League Scouting Bureau ranked him among the Top 200 prospects. Last year, Great Bridge High (Chesapeake) righty Connor Jones sent a letter to all 30 clubs, turned down the Padres when they took a flier on him in the 21st round and joined Kirby at Virginia, currently ranked No. 1 in the nation by Baseball America.
We were pretty lucky that Stroman even fell to 17th let alone 22nd lol. Top 10 talent got passed on because of his height.
