According to the radio broadcast Castro was hitting 93-96 MPH consistently, and even touched 99 MPH on a couple of occasions.
Wow. Kid put in some work this off season I guess.

Speaking of all this depth. Bluefield announced their roster this weekend: http://www.milb.com/news/article.js...id=79822426&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_t517&sid=t517
A few names Im excited to watch:
On the mound: Borucki, Leitz and Smoral
At the plate: Telez, Urena and Anderson
That being said one of the things I love about the Bluefield season is there's always a kid at the end of the year that we didn't expect that we're all VERY excited about.
You have more confidence than I do. Still enjoying the ride, though.
EDIT: ScoutingBook.com has the Jays currently at 27th for farm club rankings. Has it really fallen that far in the mainstream media circles?
Anderson is intriguing because he flat out sucked ass in 2012, 2013 was a complete wash-out because of his surgery...he really has to have a bounce back year. I was so excited when he was drafted, came on the scene and smashed the ball and had a pretty good rookie year. But like I said 2012 came and he just didn't hit at all, and 2013 he didn't play cause of his surgery.
They have Bickford listed in our system and Smoral, McGuire, Alford, Stilson, Jimenez, Hollon, Jeffress, and Nessy cracking the top 20. I wouldn't even classify them as amateur scouts if they mess it up that badly.
So you don't feel they are top 20 worthy? LOL. Where is Alford in the system now? That's a name I haven't seen in a while.
Tony Gwynn passed away apparently
Pretty much the best hitter I've ever seen live
He's nothing as a prospect if he only plays 10 games a year. McGuire and Stilson are polishing up and are nearing the bigs but they have limited potential so I wouldn't place them in a top 20. Hollon slides out of the top 20 due to TJ and just plenty of other players being ahead of him in the system. He's an arm I like but he may be destined for a bullpen role. Smoral needs to have a couple of good seasons before I can put him in the top 20 or even top 10 and Nessy is probably a guy capable of entering a top 20 list but I personally wouldn't put him in mine. Jimenez sure, he's likely the only one tbh.
Including 2014 draftees mine would probably be:
1. Stroman
2. Sanchez
3. Norris
4. Hoffman
5. Barreto
6. Osuna
7. Pentecost
8. Pompey
9. Nay
10. Nolin
11. Reid-Foley
12. Castro
13. Davis
14. Tirado
15. Lugo
16. Smith Jr.
17. Jimenez
18. Cole
19. De Jong
20. Labourt

Just wanted to stop in to say keep up the good posts fellas. This thread is one of the main reasons why I keep coming to hfboards during the NHL offseason. I'm more of reader of a poster so I don't have too much to add, but I always appreciate the new info and discussion in here.
I'm pretty happy with the results of the Baltimore series and hope we can at least do the same if not better against the Yanks. I didn't get to see the play (listening on the radio), but did you guys have any issues with the Bautista being out at home plate call?

Not many teams have that much depth in their top 12.

Agreed.
And I know DJ Davis has been a little bit of a disappointment so far, but even still 1st round pick with tons of upside doesn't even crack the top 10.
Impressive depth indeed
You must have missed the LOL. I know they are very much lesser prospects. The only reason I asked about Alford is I know he was another toolsy pick but haven't really seen his name anywhere in some time. Just wondering if anyone had info on him. Your top 20 looks pretty bang on to me. We have a lot of filler potential filler guys that are always needed and some we've seen a little in Jenkins, Deck (who's numbers look good so far in AAA) Hendricks, Pillar. Then lesser prospects in guys like Stilson, Boyd, Chung, Robson, Gabryszwski, Del Rosario,(Tyler) Gonzalez, Dean, Cardona if he can ever figure it out etc. plus the undecided signs from this year if we can get a couple more of the hard signs. Really, we have some nice pieces all over the place.
Going through the system I can't find Alford anywhere or I just missed him so I'm assuming he's no longer with the team or still playing short season or something.

Tony Gwynn dead at 54 years old. Damn... I'm stunned. Don't even know what to say.
yea but every org. has filler guys. Look at that top 12, doesn't get much deeper than that. And Alford is a bit of a mystery, hasn't done much up to this point and apparently he still has his eyes on football..I think he's doing both right now. I think there's an agreement with the Jays or something because I'm pretty sure he's playing in the UFL or something like that as well as playing with the Jays. I wouldn't expect much from him. IMO he's totally screwed up his situation by being stubborn enough to try and do 2 sports at once..I really don't get it. I don't really understand how you can really improve on your baseball skills when football is taking up half your year.
Edit: NVM he's back in school apparently. He's at Ole Miss playing safety for their football team, Jays only get him for extended spring training and little snippets before he goes back to training for football.
No I very much saw it. I was just providing why I felt they are undeserving of a spot in the top 20.
