What are Sabres fans thoughts on Krebs vs Rosén?

Krebs is already here in the NHL and has looked really good the past month or two. We see him as our long term center for the third line. He’s developed a really feisty and chippy part of his game and we think the offense will come. So he’s valued quite a bit higher in my opinion. Just by virtue of being in the NHL and already carving out a long term role

As much as I want the Sabres to make a move to push for the playoffs this year, I'm not convinced Chychrun is the guy to go after.

Especially with how many top 4 D-men are poised to hit free agency this summer, it should be a buyers market.

This is all over the place, from praise, to dislike, to let's compare him to the rest of the Buffalo pipeline, even to non-prospects (Mittelstadt).

Your assessment is his development is one thing (I disagree with portions); your assessment of his value is way off. I'd trade any of our 2nds this year for another team's Isak Rosen.

It's not all over the place -- the point of listing his strengths AND weaknesses (praise & dislike as you call it) is to show that I can be objective and see the positive areas in his game in addition to the areas I find concerning.

As far as Mittelstadt: the point here is that Mitts is still young enough to be part of the Sabres core as they go forward. He may not end up being that 1st or 2nd line C that he was hoped to be given his draft position and WJC performance, but even if he tops out as a 3rd line C or a 2nd/3rd line winger, I have seen growth in the areas of his game I wanted to see that make him both more effective and more versatile. That means while he is far from "untouchable", he can be a legit piece of the core going forward.

Conversely, I don't see Rosen as a core player for BUF, and perhaps any team in the NHL. He certainly is behind all of Quinn, JJP, Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, Krebs, and yes Mittelstadt as well. Just in the same way I don't see Olofsson part of the long term core either. That is why I would trade Rosen before ANY of those other guys.

As far as the draft picks: yes, I would rather have the PHI 2nd rounder than Rosen. I think there could be a legit #1 starting goalie on the board where that pick is, and also the kinds of high quality complementary 3rd line types or #4 Dmen that this team needs to add to their pipeline.

It should go without saying that I can respect reasonable minds to disagree with that assessment, but it is unreasonable for you or anyone to say that I'm unequivocally incorrect or that it's a "breathtakingly stupid take".

What are Sabres fans thoughts on Krebs vs Rosén?

Two very different players. Krebs is an established NHL-caliber center, but the question on him is going to be his ceiling. If he stays in Buffalo he won't be more than a 3rd line center.......but can he be more? He's learning how to play with an edge to his game by playing with Girgensons and Okposo and is starting to pull regular PK shifts. He certainly seems like he's being groomed to be that long-term 3rd line center.

Rosen on the other hand is never going to be a defensive stalwart. He's likely a guy that's either on a scoring line with plenty of PP time or he's not an NHL player.

What about Kulich vs Rosen?

What about Kulich vs Rosen?
Rosen is much quicker and shiftier. He's a better stick handler as well.

Kulich is a straight line player. Not afraid to get dirty along the boards or in front. He's a bit of a unicorn in the Sabres system and thus fans will value him extremely highly.

Both have NHL caliber shots right now.

Thanks. I meant value, though. I watched a lot of Krebs in junior and I’ve always been a fan. I wanted him when we traded up and took Soderstrom. I was mostly asking which you’d rather keep if you could only keep one.

I'd keep Krebs over Rosen. Rosen's skillet, while high, is a bit redundant in Buffalo.

Krebs is a natural center and brings a bit of grit. I keep him.

I “like” Krebs more. But I almost lean Rosén for the same reasons. Arizona already has Hayton. They need more skill, and upside. So Rosén is a bit more appealing from a “fit” perspective. My only concern there is that 3 of the top 5 prospects in this draft are smaller, highly skilled wingers (Bedard, Michkov and Benson). Meanwhile, AZ already had Keller and Maccelli playing extremely well in their top six. Not to mention Schmaltz.

Krebs by a country mile. He’s not only a much higher caliber prospect/young player, he’s also far more versatile. Rosen’s best strength at 5 v 5 projects to be his transition play and playmaking, and I think Krebs is ahead of him in those areas, to say nothing of being ahead of him in several others.
