Remove Crouse and you’ve got a deal.

How much value do you think Portillo has? He’s not signing and there’s no compensatory pick for him. I put the 4th in there as most of the offset on him.
If we are removing crouse then drop the 50% retention and drop a 1st

I think it looks pretty solid from both sides , maybe some sort of add from Arizona if anything(he suggested bjukstad)
Portillo for a 4th is fair; burden is then on them to sign.

1st 2nd Rosen for Chychrun is fair; sucks to lose Rosen, but you aren’t getting Chychrun for nothing.

Another forward, especially with size, is good in theory, but we have something of a roster limit crunch, since we insist on carrying 3 goalies.

If it were to happen on the deadline, then rosters expand. It is still crowded though and it becomes a question of who comes out.

What's interesting about this offer is that exactly meets the reported Arizona ask: the equivalent of 2 firsts and a lesser piece of futures.

Buffalo's first should be somewhere in the teens (currently 15th). Isak Rosen was the 13th player taken just 2 years ago. The Flyers 2nd (currently 41) is a very good "lesser piece".

And the OP has sweetened the pot with Portillo, who is a wild card, but is also a decent piece who should see the opportunity in the desert he does not in Buffalo.

If Armstrong is simply waiting to get his ask met, this certainly does it. The question is, is someone willing to cough up a better pick or prospect while matching the other elements in order to beat it.

Well done OP.

Pretty fair proposal. I'm willing to move those pieces - I'm just not convinced Chychrun is the guy they should be targeting. How many minutes will they be able to give him with Dahlin and OP running the power plays? Is he that much of a 5-on-5 defensive upgrade to be worth giving away 2 firsts +? Personally, I would rather target another Samuelsson-type player to pair with OP at a lower price if you want to upgrade the D. Otherwise, I'm looking for either an impact scoring winger or just standing pat. I never thought this was the year Buffalo needed to make the playoffs. Next year is the year. We're still not sure exactly what we have with Savoie, Ostlund, Rosen and Kulich, among others.

My issue with this trade isn't the value which is surprising balanced for an hfb proposal, but the fit.

If this went through, Buffalo would have four young first pairing LHD on their roster, three of which in need of a massive contract within the next couple of years.

Sounds kinda fun on paper, but is it efficient asset allocation?

The truth is, the Sabres top 4 is already set for years. To boot, the third pairing is pretty balanced and finally playing well, too, and they are young enough to be here for a while.

Personally I'd rather go after a quality depth player on d like Peeke or Fabbro and use the blockbuster assets, if anything, on a forward like Meier.

Chychrun is gonna go to a place where he can play on the #1PP

Something tells me Dahlin has that locked up. And hell in a couple years chych would be competing with Power for #2PP

Its probably fair value but I am one of the lost fans that is high on rosen but with our roster and other prospects in the pipeline he is probably the one to guy potential of a top/middle six player who does have lethal offensive tools that still need some honing, he isn't a b prospect either not our best but still its due to our ridiculous pool of non nhl talent

I would be shocked if this happens.
Sabres want their organization to be deep and I do not believe that this is what they need

Expect a big stay at home type if they add help at d or net front presence on forwards. Sabres are not going to part with Rosen and a first when the organizational depth is insufficient

Maybe they’re seconds but not two pieces. They are not in a position to empty their shelves yet.

The Sabres have arguably the deepest prospect pool in the league. They have the assets to make a big trade and not feel too much pain.

I understand Chychrun is a great player but the asking price for a player 2 years from UFA is crazy expensive

That and also for a guy that really doesn't fit on Buffalo's blue line. We already have 2 young immensely talented LHD in Dahlin and Power. The relationship between value and fit just isn't there.

I really don't get the peeps against this simply because he doesn't play the right side or isn't a pure defensive Dman he is a massive upgrade for us teams often have guys playing on their weak side he's way better than out bottom pair and a vetted enough to help the younger D out. We are already sheltering our 3rd pair way too much and guys like Bryson still get whomped in easy minutes.
