Given that I have serious concerns that Rosen will be a legitimate top 9 scoring winger in the NHL, I take this deal and RUN if I'm BUF. I'd rather give up Rosen than the PHI 2nd round pick.

I think lost Sabres fans are pretty high on Rosen and he is developing nicely. Definitely more valuable than a second imo.


I think the trade is pretty darn good. 1st + a top prospect + a 2nd + plus whatever Portillo is (a good prospect if he’s willing to sign)

Agreed.

Sabres have a “big 5” in my mind when it comes to prospects: Levi, Savoie, Kulich, Ostlund, and Rosen. I don’t see a deal where we don’t include one of them, and Rosen seems like the most likely to go in a trade like this. And I think Rosen is going to be very good

Chychrun's main selling point is his reduced salary.

Buffalo has no need for cap savings while he is under contract. The Sabres are going to need cap savings the year he is a UFA, making it difficult to re-sign him.

Given that fact, paying the premium price of multiple firsts makes zero sense.

Chychrun is a fine player, but what he brings is not worth these packages AZ fans keep proposing.

Rentals generally get a late first and some small add on. So the Sabres 1st will be better, and then it just depends on how big of a piece you view Rosen. Sabres definitely value him as much as a first and a big piece, but the trade won’t be that impressive if you’re not a fan of Rosen

I have an AHLTV Amerks subscription.

He's been perfectly fine in year-1 of the AHL. Needs size and more games played. Shot is lethal. Speed is Ehlers-eske.

True, I like the buffalo 23 pick the most. If we traded Veggie and got Portillo to sign that would be great. I will be honest, I don't know rosen much. He seems like another Macelli. I liked Kulich or if we could get someone a bit more physical or maybe a defensive prospect.
