Typical move by Dubas... Hire someone that he already knew. Seems Dubas has a fear of interviews and the vetting process. He also like "inexperience". Not really earmarks of a great leader.
Exactly why Shanny fired Dubas. I truly believe Shanny felt that one day Dubas could or would have replaced him.
No I'm fairly sure the reason he was fired was because Kyle said he wasnt sure he wanted the job and then at the last minute, after going radio silence on shanny, asked for more money.
The mere fact shanny was even thinking of giving dubas another contract means he should be gone as well.
I'm fairly certain dubas wanted to be the highest paid gm in the league despite the fact he only has 1 series win in 5 years.
The fun will begin when Crosby Malkin and Letang retire or sharp decline in 2 or 3 yrs.He will live in a beautiful 12,000sf mansion with indoor pool, gym, theatre. She will have a driver if need be and staff to keep the home. Slip for the boat at the marine and will attend the high end restaurants. The kids will be in private or boarding school.
Trust me, zero you know whats will be given and weekends in NYC are a call away.
Took a LOT of notes!
I wish he stayed with our org, but if he is not a part of the Leafs, I have no interest in him or what he is doing.
Typical of Dubas to hire people with less experience than him so he becomes the leader. He loves being the big fish in the small pond.
That said, how is this not tampering? Dubas fired, Spezza resigns, and they both end up in Pittsburgh. Almost like Pittsburgh was talking to Dubas behind the scenes, and Spezza knew it.
My Jason Spezza fandom basically dead ends here. Good luck on your internship as the assistant to the guy Dubas will hire next to be the pretend GM.
I don’t think there going to be a hire. Isn’t Dubas really close to Doug Armstrong? and Doug Armstrong is president and GM in STL. So I think he might take a page out of that book
It couldn't possibly be that he thought Spezza was doing a good job, that is impossible.
A good job at what exactly?
Money wasn’t the issue, it has always been about control and power. I wouldn’t even be surprised if the Pittsburgh deal is lower than the price he asked for in Toronto.
Kyle never said he wasn’t sure he wanted the job. He said he needed to take time to discuss things with his family because it was “hard on them”. Those were his literal words. Everything else is just an assumption/interpretation.

He said he was going to handle the draft himself so doesn't sound like he's in a rush.So he hires an Assistant GM before hiring a GM? Talk about backwards.

Well for one, Dubas wasn't fired.lt smells from over here. A coincidence is a coincidence, but c'mon.
Or he will just name himself permanent GM and be done with it lol.He said he was going to handle the draft himself so doesn't sound like he's in a rush.
Spezza can do his errands in the meantime. Dry cleaners, Starbucks and Mickey D's runs.
Well for one, Dubas wasn't fired.
There's a reason he's allowed to run Pittsburghs draft and Treliving isn't.
