The best GMs also being located in the locations with no state tax and warm weather is really widening this gap league wide.

Tough for the original six markets to compete, let alone the small market Canadian teams

flip the core now at near peak values to dive in to a 3-4 year rebuild or ride the core into the sunset until a 5+ year rebuild is forced on us. Depends how much you value a couple of potential playoff years with likely middling results I guess.
Rebuilds in markets like ours don't take 3-4 years. Look at Buffalo as rhe best example of what kind of pain to expect

I get that Chevy isn't going to just trade Helle for pennies on the dollar because Connor is "open to a change" or flat out wants out of Wpg. But if Chevy doesn't trade him this year (by the draft or even by mid-season) then his value will go significantly down considering he's already 33. His value at this point in time has never been higher so in my opinion this needs to get done by this summer.

f*** Vegas. f*** Florida and Tampa too.. Gary has built his Southern legacy I can't wait until these teams hit rock bottom with us...

Jets have to build through the draft every year, and Chevy knows it.

I am optimistic it's 3 more drafts before the star power of Scheif, KC and J Mo begins to fade. Getting a beast mode Adam Lowry back would go a long way. Perfetti, Samberg staying along for the ride.

In those 3 drafts Chevy should be working towards multiple picks. To build the next core. I'm really hoping this is the draft for a top pairing defensemen.

I just hope we don't trade this pick at this point.

The only way you can is through the draft. Trying to leverage picks for middling fixes is a surefire way fail.

The Hellebuyck deal fell through. That's why Sameskovich was dealt to Seattle and he didn't want to sign there.

I mean it'd still possible but Lundell and Mikkola along with many 2nds may have to head Winnipeg's way. But it's looking like if he is traded now it'll be the Golden Knights. Florida has almost no assets left to trade.
Lol, what assets does Vegas have left? Their draft talent cupboard is BARE.

The markets being where they are is creating the best GMs in my opinion. Flip Chevy with the GMs of Florida, Tampa, Carolina or Vegas and I’d be curious to see the results in Winnipeg after a decade.

I have a terrible feeling this will drag on all summer and Hellebuyck will be on the Jets to start the season, even though he'll be unhappy, and the team will struggle, as will he, and his value will tank, leading to him being traded for pennies on the dollar. I hope I'm wrong.

With enough fan support we can change how they approach things. People seem content to just be mediocre though.

Not all rebuilds are the same. Most take at least a decade to come to fruition. Colorado, Florida, Tampa, Chicago, LA, Washington. Some never see the light of day like ours or Toronto's. Some never see anything like Columbus. And some have a very quick turnaround like Pittsburgh.

But every single team goes through it at some point. We will eventually whether we stick our heads in the sand and pretend it's not coming or not. Those that are proactive generally come out of theirs better off. The ones that don't get proactive are top FA and trade destinations so it doesn't really matter if they are proactive.

Unless we have a deal with Buffalo, I think I’d run it back...
The only rumour I believe is the Jets have interest in Mc Tavish.

But for Helle to waive to Anaheim, they'd have to make a Parayko for Mintyukov trade first, and add on defense to offset the loss of Gudas and Carlson as well. So that could be a well into the off-season trade. Maybe after Chevy does nothing to appease his goalie.

Dostal might have enough Pavelec in him to get to the playoffs. Maybe the Jets are ready for a 2nd Czech phase.

If not bringing back the goalie who gives the team the best chance of winning isn't exactly the worst play.

I'm going to predict an Isaac Lundestrom for Namestnikov trade...

Connor-Scheifele-Iafallo
Perfetti-Yager-Vilardi
Barron-Lowry-Lambert
Koepke-Lundestrom-Rosen

4C problem solved.

Kirby Dach is signed as the 2C but gets injured in TC.

Stanley comes back to a familiar home.

No one on these boards is happy.

Until the team wins a few.
