Um, yeah. That's my pointPerceived value, apparently buff and Florida have put a different value on him.
or he is working on things so he pushed the media availability backSoooooo….nothing until then
Must have just missed him...lol. The funny thing is I was just in st Adolphe at a gas station

Trade speculation is fun, but I'm all for keeping Helle if he wants to stay, probably not going to see a goalie of his caliber on the Jets again for a long time once he's goneBeen keeping a low profile, as I'm not feeling a whole lot of love about the team these days. But I'm obviously not alone. When most of the posts are extolling the potential of trading arguably the best player in the most important position in hockey, you know you have a problem.
There is irrational pessimism in Jetsland atm, just as there was irrational optimism after the President's Trophy season. It was easy to predict a regression last season; I'm now going to predict a bounce back toward the middle and playoffs this coming season.
I cannot see Chevy and Chipman giving up on this core yet, so they are likely betting on a low-odds playoff team and then hoping Helle is the Conn Smythe player we have not yet seen. If we miss the playoffs again, it's all over for this core and the rebuild starts at the trade deadline.
I'd be more optimistic if there were a shakeup in management. I was a Chevy backer for a decade, but there is a reason there are term limits in some of the most important offices in the public and private sectors. They are simply not at the cutting edge anymore, so it's hard not to equate the team on the ice with the team in the executive suite.
Personally, regarding the most important positions, the ranking would go 1C, 1D and then goalie in my opinion.Been keeping a low profile, as I'm not feeling a whole lot of love about the team these days. But I'm obviously not alone. When most of the posts are extolling the potential of trading arguably the best player in the most important position in hockey, you know you have a problem.
He was sheltered a bit being on the 3rd pairing. He played some decent minutes with a number of different partners. Mostly Gostisbehere, Walker, Nystrom and Reilly.analytics dont like Nikisin's defensive #s, considering 3rd pair role/TOI on Carolina. Shot the same SH% as Logan Stanley at least Stanley you can see track record that this is an outlier of his career so far. Nikishin has played 1 NHL season so uncertain if sustainable or not (probably not?). Played even lesser role in the POs too. Also, if Byram is any representation of the D market, may be smart to cash in.
Maybe I really amDid you see Selanne there?![]()
I think there is a stalemate, and I don't think there is any incentive for either side to bend until the draft starts.Probably puts a fork in the Helle to Buffalo ideas. Though could be that he's grinding out Chevy now. Who will be the first to cave?
I don't think Markstrom is that bad of a goalie, last 6 seasons he's always had a winning record, under 3.00gaa in 5 of them, over .900sv% in 5 of them, when he's been in the playoffs his sv% has never been under .900 Just seems he gets injured for a bit during the season, so if we got him for 4.5m (NJ retains 25%) and then say sign Skinner for 2yr @ 3.5m to be a 1a/1b goalie tandem it wouldn't be that bad for the next 2 seasons. Just can't have our starter playing 3/4 of the season so he's not fresh going into the playoffs. Mercer could be the 2nd line center with Bratt and Nino on the wings.Markstrom hasn't been good for 5 years and was brutal last season. He's negative value in a trade. Bratt's the only good piece coming back here, while the Jets are giving up an elite goalie, 8th overall and a decent young winger.
Chevy doesn't have to trade Helly if Chevy doesn't get exactly what he wants back. It's a game of musical chairs and Jarmo won't want to mess with Chevy.....![]()

i am always a bit skeptical on CAR players' on-ice stats b/c their system makes everyone look good. but the with or withouts and rate of change can show some semblance of how that player performs in it relative to the rest (obviously still a lot of other factors). regardless: high sh%, overall defensive stats still look fine but relative to the team they are a bit on the lower end, + a good sellers market, i think they'd be smart to see if they can nab a good return for someone who is a 3rd pair D, and saw decreased TOI in the POs.He was sheltered a bit being on the 3rd pairing. He played some decent minutes with a number of different partners. Mostly Gostisbehere, Walker, Nystrom and Reilly.
Not sure what the analytics don't like about his defensive game in isolation in particular...but it's true they don't like it. Hockeyviz has the Canes much better defensively without him on the ice than with him:
