Been thinking about this since the Byram deal last night....

If we're to take Hellebuyck at his word and all he wants to do is win ASAP, why is he waiving his NMC to go to Buffalo?

- They just lost a Top 4 D in Byram
- If the rumours are true, Tuch is gone in a sign and trade
- Chevy wants players, so you'd be removing even more players off the roster

Are we sure they're even a playoff team in the Atlantic next year, never mind a contender?

Just have to hope Helle thinks they are.

lebrun said he would be flexible to help get the max return, cj said he would be open to all sorts of situations, if he truly wants out and the best offer is from buffalo it would come down to a choice of staying here or waiving, I really don't see many other good options that can work the deal we are looking for

At least it won't cost us assets. If we get Helenius and or UPL. Never hurts to have a little Finnish contingent to make the guys feel at home.
It's just hilarious how many times this has happened with him. Edmonton, Carolina, Pittsburgh, Florida and whoever's next. They always think he will work out for them, but it never does!

He's got the tools, but he's just been unable to produce in North America.

His NHLe in the Swiss league this year puts him at about 29 points over 82 games in the NHL - which is about the same pace as he put up in his last year in Pittsburgh (9 points in 26 games). A Finnish Appleton?

He’s depth… nothing more

If he does get traded we will see... If it's not to a cup contending team then we know Helly was not being fully clear in his statement.

I think they have enough money that they can match anything realistic for him, maybe they want to do something else or feel he won't be worth what he will be paid

Probably a lot of interest in him as well so given the prices right now they could probably flip him. Carolina is playing with house money now.

That is the calculus, do you want to match? Might as well check out the market for him at least. Maybe they are adding a bit of pressure in their negotiations with his team.

analytics dont like Nikisin's defensive #s, considering 3rd pair role/TOI on Carolina. Shot the same SH% as Logan Stanley at least Stanley you can see track record that this is an outlier of his career so far. Nikishin has played 1 NHL season so uncertain if sustainable or not (probably not?). Played even lesser role in the POs too. Also, if Byram is any representation of the D market, may be smart to cash in.

Someone make up a rumour so we get more news
I heard out of Ottawa that after bailing out rich condo developers in BC, Carney is now trying to help negotiate a Helle trade to try and bailout another empathetic group that is down on their luck… the Florida Panthers.

Ok.

Carolina are looking to obtain Hellebuyck and are offering us Ehlers back along with Nikishin, Chevy told them to f*** off unless Jarvis is also included and they agreed, just waiting on the contracts to get signed.

Canes may be shopping Nikishkin, a young D-man and Stanley Cup champion?

If only he was 35 years old, then Chevy would be all over this.
