I would do Hensler or 25th overall FWIW

I'll get Chevy to draw up the paperwork.

I feel like that's a p good deal for the Jets. Idk anything about Hensler other than he was a late 1st just last year and RD. So a v recent late 1st + another late 1st for a 33 YO RD with 2 years remaining i think id do that. wonder what others think.

granted the commentary from the team seems to be leaning toward still compete, not rebuild. so, i don't think they're looking to move Demelo despite his age and decline. He's probably more of a mid range 2nd pair quality defensive dman or high-end 3rd pair. I also think even if rebuilding, he's a v good player to have help break-in some youth both on and off the ice (as he's done with Stanley and Samberg previously).

but 2 late 1st assets equivalent now.... he's 1.5 years away from a TDL trade of maybe a late 1st? id probably do that deal as i think the Jets need to reset a bit.

2. You aren't phrasing the question correctly, Byram leaving has nothing to do with whether Helle makes them better from here. Are they better off with Hellebuyck instead of UPL + Östlund (+Norris in this case, if he is involved), assuming they just roll back the rest of the roster next year? Given that UPL has only shown flashes of being starter quality and Hellebuyck's average season has been better than any season from a Buffalo goalie in the last 16 years, I'd say yes, they're much better off with Hellebuyck.

3. And probably don't trade a Hart winner for a pick and an unproven prospect either, I guess. If we treat Hellebuyck as something that isn't immensely valuable to a team that has an open window now, we might as well not bother discussing this.

4. They have the means to address both skaters and goaltending. Replacing Byram might be the most pressing need, but what they probably want to avoid too is having UPL and Lyon falter in a division with some of the offensively stacked teams around. With the core guys in their mid-20s and locked up for a while still, now would be an extraordinarily bad time to penny-pinch on goaltending (this goes even more for Florida, although they have considerably less tradeable assets than the Sabres do).

2. Byram leaving does matter when it comes to spending a top 5 draft pick and a prospect who probably is about a year away from being a good top 6 player on a goaltender. Buffalo's defence last year was not very good, not saying that Byram is a stud or anything but they're going to be down a number of forwards and a top 4 D in your trade scenario. Is the improvement from Hellebuyck worth the cost? Especially coming off a down year, you have to hedge a little bit.

3. Goalies are less valuable in trades than they are to their teams. I agree that Chevy should be treating Hellebuyck as a player worth an MVP level return, but I'm not certain that the other 31 teams see the value for a goaltender as high as it would be as a skater.

4. See point 2. UPL was 11th in SV% for goalies who played 10+ games last season.

Sabres defintely have the assets to get Hellebuyck and Thomas. Blues would likely be satisfied with something around 4oa.

Blues might be, not sure Thomas would.

After his presser I was fully in the camp of Helle is staying and was just putting Chevy on notice…now, after the last week…I’m not so sure keeping him would be a good idea, considering the rumours, reports, and speculation…gonna make the room stressful
I still think he’s moved to FLA but that could be wishful thinking…I guess we will see eventually

I think he didn't think about leaving this summer after the season ended but has come around to it.

Hey guys - Sens fan here

I was wondering if DeMelo would be made available and if so - what the ask might be?

Players like DeMelo are usually more valuable than their trade value. I don't know if they'll be looking to move him. EDIT: Saw the 25th or the prospect offer, sign me up for that.

No, you're right... Just can Stan and Schenn predictably sucked there, doesn't mean we got anything that moves the needle for them. Maybe that late 2nd lottery ticket becomes something.
I agree that stan had his caribou tundra legs a fair bit but at the end of the day he was all we had outside of lowery who could walk down cell Block C when the inmates became restless.and we can say that in today's hockey cell block C has been given a shit ton of salt pèter and benzos and thus neutered, but tell that to florida when they come to town.now that florida did what they do watch carels stock rise.the guys got some training from Jim Schofield and Larry platforms sherrif school,(it was on the back of their hockey cards).

I wonder what it would take to get NYR's 5OA pick so we can get Carels?
I think carels gets snagged at 3 or 4,tell me the last time a guy came out of junior with his size, his offence and is not tagged"he is smart and uses his stick to separate the opponent from the puck" or uses his "size and length to angle opponents "he likes to punish people, and that's how he plays the game.heck I keep reading Boumedienne and Salo are these physical dudes, just like I read about Samberg, but they are not, carels is.

I think we’re all sleeping on Paul Coffey. I’m sure Chevy is hitting him up for a 1-year contract to suit up next to JMO or Samberg!

First Florida throws in the towel when Chevy won't move off his ask, now Buffalo (apparently)

Chevy is an oak, and never takes less than 100% value in a trade

I'm 100% on the helle asked for a trade,if he hadn't chevy would of said so and we would not hear about an asking price, that's not Chevy's mo to let things shake rattle untill it falls apart, what if he doesn't get traded and he comes to camp with all the past innuendo,it could get ugly fast because at the end of the day I do not think the Jets have the pieces to appease helles wishes of vast improvements, and yes vast improvements are needed to get to the stanley cup.im prepared for a great return or a not so great return, what I'm not OK with is an aging core and zero top 6 forward or young up and coming stud on the blueline in our prspect pool.

I doubt jarmo is going to be truthful with what he's planning on doing in goal
