Speculation: Speculation, rumours and trade & free agency ideas thread

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Um, yeah. That's my point
My point is I don't think chevies ask is possible, and I'm of the mind it makes no sence to keep helle since the team is not in the win now and it is pointless to use future assets to chase that assumption. What purpose does it serve to keep helle, and no I don't think helle should be given away but he is not getting a 2c a 1rst and a d prospect, not after hart and Carolina goalies getting to the final, hill and kuemper ,holtby,Murray,Bennington winning cups, helle has .876 or something last 3 playoffs, his stock is high in the US after mackinnon missed the empty net and us won Gold so get it done.

Helle wins us games singlehandedly

Either you get the value you want back, or you keep him

We went 3-8-1 without him. His value is already higher to the team than the trade return Chevy is looking for. Trading him for less than that makes zero sense

JMO...a trade between Winnipeg and Florida should have happened by now, except Florida is doing everything they can to not give the Jets what they have asked for.
Yup, and at the end of the day, Chevy has all kinds of experience with having players who would prefer to move being on the roster

I think there is enough goodwill between Helle and the org for him to be patient while Chrvy does his thing, even if it extends into next season

It's going to be virtually impossible to get fair value for Hellebuyck - to actually replace what he does for the team. Goalie trade returns are just naturally below skaters' value...and what Hellebuyck does for the Jets has at times been as significant as what McDavid does for the Oilers.

But to keep him happy, the team has to make some moves to be competitive. Unfortunately, the Jets don't have the assets to trade for immediate help except for 8th OA. Maybe someone surprising slides on draft day and a team wants to aggressively move up?

That's kinda my point

His value is already diminished as a goalie. So anything less than getting the maximum of that diminished value means not trading him (IMO)

The Jets don't really replenish what they trade out of. Trade trouba, still searching for a legitimate top pair level RD instead of makeshift ones. Trade PLD still search for a legitimate top 6 level Center, instead of these makeshift ones.

Now that Florida doesn’t have the 9th, Lundell is really the only option left to get Helly, so if they have circled back hopefully Lundell is in the discussion.

panthers could probably get jenner to be their 3c next year in free agency if they do trade lundell lol
For sure. First time Stanley cup seekers will take a heavy discount to play in a preferred location that’s odds on favourite to win. Just hopefully none of them can play goal at a Vezina caliber.

Trade speculation is fun, but I'm all for keeping Helle if he wants to stay, probably not going to see a goalie of his caliber on the Jets again for a long time once he's gone
I think that is the big problem, Helly wants to move on. I’m guessing Chevy would much prefer to go searching for the #2 center without Helly being the centrepiece.
