Ronning stinks

Ronning doesn't stink. He was arguably the best HFD forward by end of last season. He was just as effective as Barron in most games. He's a late bloomer due to size. But he figured it out last year. He much more of a AAAA player than you'd think. His game is much more well rounded than some of the AHL guys that were callups in years past. If we didn't have such a glut at forward, he would have been given a shot. Would have preferred he was given one game. But it is what it is.

He likely will move on from the organization after this year. Maybe he can get a shot somewhere. But to say he sucks is not warranted. He's busted his ass to develop in the ECHL and AHL and has shown vast improvement in ways most kids in a similar spot just hit a wall.

OOPS I was half asleep and I thought we were talking about ROONEY hahahaha
No I don't think Ronning stinks at all, I was advocating for him and kept voting for him in our top prospect poll. I've seen him live a bunch of times here for the Vancouver Giants, I'm a big fan

Q. Hughes resigned 6 years $7.85MM.

Petterson 3 years $7.35MM.

I actually think those two deals are pretty smart, i like Petterson but he wasn't nearly as good last year as his rookie, maybe this is what he is? It you sign him for 7 years as a superstar and you get a star it would be tough to take, wait three years and it probably costs you another mill or two if he is what he was the first year and then you have him for 10 years.

I believe that Kinkaid, Ronning…any of the guys who passed through waivers can still play in preseason matches.
Not 100% sure but I think that’s the case.

Tbh I’ve been taking about how Chytil could benefit tremendously playing with Goodrow. To learn to play like him…. The same logic applies to kreider. Get him back to being a bull

Laf Zib Kravtsov
Panarin Strome Kakko
Kreider Chytil Goodrow
Blais Rooney Hunt/Reaves

this is the peak composition. That 3rd line would be a nightmare for 3rd pairing defenseman

Ive been saying this should be the lineup before camp started. That is a very strong 3rd line and deepens the team

Another variation would be

Laf Zibs Kreider
Panarin Strome Kakko
Goodrow Chytil Gauthier

Kravtsov traded for grit and a 2nd for the memes. :sarcasm:

tbh at this point I think Gauthier is in the lead over Kravtsov.

For all the hockey experts who like “to read between the lines” Gallant explicitly included Miller into his top-4 (I guess he’s not being sent to the AHL, lol) and just as explicitly stated that Nils is not a front runner for the 6th D spot. I recall many posters are in favor of giving the line-up spots based on merit from the training camp showing and if this is a case both Jones and Schneider so far outplayed Lundkvist handily. Maybe the Swede does need time in the AHL to adopt to NA style. Nothing wrong with it.
