KAM just needs to play more hockey. 60 games at the college level is not enough for a 'raw' talent. Going straight into NHL for 50 games is a massive leap. He needs experience. With experience he should grow and mature.
Agree here. Repetition is key. Playing in front of big crowds is key. Practicing, Training, and coaching are also key.
It’s all about muscle memory and having his brain work to the point where doing the right things on the ice is second nature. 1-2 more years and I’ll revise my assumptions. But right now, he’s one player I’m not expecting to have a sophomore slump. I thing he gets better this season..
I also think he’s will use his body more when he gets more comfortable thinking the game. He’s never going to be a huge open ice hitter, but cancelling guys against the wall, and closing in from certain angles along with his speed/strength and he can be a real handful.
Playing with Trouba helped him a lot last season,, I expect it to help him again. As well as watching lindgren and fox

Staal was a No 1 D for a this team while it accomplished pretty much.

What I think is completely missed, especially by a certain crowd starring itself blind on CF%, was that our man-man D under AV, while giving us an offensive advantage, really exposed the Ds. Like 3 of our top 6 Ds were deemed to be ‘worst in the league AINEC’ from time to time. I am not saying that Staal or Girardi were good Ds, but they were — very — far from ‘worst in the league’. Had they played for a coach with a strict zone defense they would have gotten by OK like a ton of other sub par defenders in this league.

I always get back to this, but Hedman at during his 3rd season in the NHL was at CF% 43 and CF rel -4.4%. During his 4th season he was at 45.4 and CF rel -3.2. Post that his fancy stats are best ever,

Why are we paying as much attention as we do on Miller’s fancy stats 3 years after his draft? Give him time.

You’re using all situations corsi…Hedmans relative stats were fine for 5v5

I get what you mean, from my POV it is all about creating an echo system in which anyone that want to live and sleep NYR 24/7 can do that. Other sports are doing it.
I get it, but I am quite glad hockey doesn't yet swirl in such an echo chamber.

Rookie camp is less important, and deserves less attention, than Training Camp, which is less important, and deserves less attention, than regular season, which is less important, and deserves less attention, than the playoffs.

As we spoke about so often on here at the time, we didn't have the personnel for a man-man D system. It was such a dumb system to implement. The guys without the agility and foot speed got badly exposed and it made them look horrific. That's just a coach really stubbornly trying to force the players to fit a system to the detriment of everyone.

Just prior, Tortorella's "black and blue" brand of hockey put a lot of miles on our defense very quickly, which also didn't help anything, either.

I look at Corsi to some degree, but I don't put all my stock in it. Corsi is what it is, but there's 4 other guys on the ice with you, too, who are influencing those numbers.

You continue to ignore the point being made. You continue to campaign for K’Andre Miller based on his raw physical ability rather than the quality of his play at the position of defense. Very convenient and at the same time bizarre. You’re right “buddy” let’s end the discussion since you can’t wrap your head around a player who has been a better defensive player at the position of defense in their amateur years leading up to the NHL (and yes I know Robertson is not there yet, while Miller’s path was a bit a matter of circumstance and situation) and its very possible that player (Robertson) ends up being a better defenseman (aka playing f***ing DEFENSE) than the other player (Miller).

Take the blinders off “buddy”

I don't think its unfair to say Robertson has a chance to be better than Miller, but if I had to choose between the two right now, I would absolutely pick Miller. If for no other reason than Miller has proven he has the ability to perform in the NHL, and Robertson has not yet.

Well, Miller is just in a different tier of prospect from Robertson. 31 teams out of 31 would choose K'Andre if given the choice between the two.

And this is coming from a big Robertson stan

And the problem with that is your reason needs context. Context like it was a 56 game season and let’s say he looked like he belonged during the first 20-25 of it. I’d say by the halfway mark, maybe even sooner, his warts (or areas needed for improvement) started to show. I would also say context like he got his opportunity because of the situation. Who was the better option than him? There wasn’t any. Our options sucked. He has a lot to improve on. Some of that is just thinking the game at the NHL speed more appropriately. Can’t just look at his size, skating, ability, etc., and just be awestruck so much that you just assume he is going to be great, that he is a can’t miss, can’t trade prospect. He has work to do.

I have said it many times, I like Miller. I like him a lot. I hope he becomes a great Top 4 Defenseman. It would only help this organization moving forward. But is Miller untouchable? No. Would I give him away? No. It would have to be a very worthwhile deal. That is all I am saying.

i haven't seen anything, but there is no precedent for NYR rookie preseason games (aside from Traverse City seasons) available for live watching/listening

and IMHO I don't agree with those who think there really ought to be,
or that the team is clueless, or behind-the-times, by keeping those games away from the public

yeah i get that you WANT it,
but these are internal, learning, evaluation and getting-ready-for big-camp events

there is no genuine benefit, to anyone involved, for this crowd to have access to a clip of something like
22 yr old 1st-rounder Morgan Frost deking around longshots, like Rempe or Berzolla, to score on 18-year-old Boyko

we are all impatient for hockey
the first pre-season game is only 11 days away

Except that many other teams do that.

Rookie Faceoff | Arizona Coyotes

Why are we so special?

There really ought to be.

I'm jealous the Rangers don't have all of training camp broadcasted like the Coyotes. WTH are you talking about? Where did Colorado come up???

Don't even sweat it. Everyone from CO is like this. They think this state is the best thing ever when it's really just another OK place to live.

No downside to showing prospect camp and prospects exhibition games.

None.

In fact, the way some on this board talk, I'd venture a guess that there would be some interest in watching actual live games, regardless of importance, over the constant replays of the Rangers and Knicks

But I guess MSG network likes jerking themselves off at the few highlight games each team had last year.

If the team had been able to build a competent third pairing last year I’m sure Miller’s minutes would have been cut down. They didn’t do him any favors shoving minutes down his throat when he started to struggle. The issue being, the options were Smith, Hajek or Bitetto and we know now, that the coach was coaching for his job.

No incentive to show them either. The obsessives are already obsessed.

No he wasn't. He was coaching to make the playoffs, because that was his job. If JD and Gorton don't get fired, Quinn almost certainly doesn't get fired.
