Trouba with the C
Kreider
Fox
Mika
Lindgren with the As.

Maybe the C should go to Panarin or Zib. The team seems to sink or swim based on how they're doing anyways. I'm sure the room listens when either is talking. Certainly, Gallant will only be successful if theyre on board with his plan. No one else will be successful as C without Panarin's support.
It does not necessarily go to the best player or leading points producers. Leadership has so many other intangibles.

It will not be Kreider.

1. He would have had it by now
2. He isn't captain material whatsoever. He is an odd ball. Very quirky. Definitely does not have the pulse of the locker room
3. Hes invisible 70% of the year. Captains cant do that[/QUOTE
Amazing how people continue to dump on the guy under every possible target. Fact is you don't know how he is perceived in the locker room. Just looking on the ice after periods and games he is the last one off the ice after interacting with the players as they step off. From a distance I think he is well liked and respected but I am not expert either. We shall see.

Most of the guys in the room weren't even on the team 3 years ago.

thats literally just more of a sample size agreeing with my statement....

Weird how players who are actually in the locker room with him say the exact opposite.

really havent read anything saying Kreider is the leader in the locker room. Big difference between a leader and a vet

Kreider:

"Just over the summer, the impact he had on our organization was huge, working with all those guys at Ben Prentiss'," David Quinn said. "I think half the team was staying at his house - he was running a bed-and-breakfast over there in Rowayton."
"It's not only what you see that he does for us on the ice," Quinn added of his winger, "What he does away from the rink with these young guys is invaluable."

I agree. But I think both Panarin and Zib are worth more than just their points totals. We’ve all seen what happens to the rest of the team when they drop out. In some ways, they carry the team. Maybe also in spirit and not just with their points.

Wait a year and give it to LaF.
Perception of course (I know nothing), but in the recent past, the young captains SEEMED to be a little more "serious" than Laf: Connor McD, Landeskog, Eichel, and going further back, Crosby/Toews.

Laf seems like he is a joy to be around in the locker room which is a leader role in it's own right, but coaches don't appear to name those types as captain. Could be totally off here. Fox is a bit odd to me in interviews (so is Lindgren), so I would think it would be Mika/Trouba/Kreider.

Crosby, Toews and McDavid I agree with. Landeskog and Eichel are both definitely a lot spicier. Big personalities. Obviously, Eich may not be such a great captain, but Landeskog is like the quintessential captain to me. The problem with Laf is, if he doesn’t at least put up about 50 points it would just be unprecedented. All of those guys had big production early on. Laf, to me, 100% has the “it” of an NHL captain. He has that likability but fired up-ness. He has lead by example. He has the love of the game. He just needs to produce this year. You can name a third year player captain if he’s producing. You can’t really name a third year player captain if he has like a career high of 31 points.
