While we obviously need to see how Kotkaniemi plays for the Canes, a lot depends on what Montreal does with those picks. If they can get Dvorak for just those Carolina picks (whic I doubt) they actually get out of this with dry feet I think. But we'll see.

Habs fans seem pretty confident that Kotkaniemi is on his way to busting, but that may just be post-hoc justification.

Still between Galchenyuk, KK, and a variety of other top picks over the years, Montreal's 'miss' rate on top first round picks is really really high.

And if the Canes do in fact have that $4M AAV long term extension lined up with Koktaniemi. A big win if they can get a 21 year old center drafted 3 overall with a lot of potential for a mid to low 1st rounder.

The extension can't be signed until January, so it's just stupid to speculate about that at this point. Lots of things can be different by then. That said, I do belive Kotkaniemi will sign with a lower AAV for a multiple years in Carolina, unless he really goes off. I doubt he will force himself to FA. Carolina is a pretty good destination for a Finnish kid like him. Lot's of friends, not so much pressure, and a contending team. And people praise Brind'Amour...

Terrible they just lost a third overall for very little yeah yeah I know it’s a strong draft blah blah blah.
Carolina has become an embarrassment of riches hope they never find a number one goalie

Carolina didn’t sign their Calder finalist goalie over 500k and then signed a significantly worse goalie for 2 million more. Not worried about carolina and their Wish version of Money Ball.

I don't think Nedeljkovic is going to be a make-or-break decision for them. Nice goalie, but I don't see him be a good starter in this league.

Even if he is turning out to be a great goalie, Carolina is a pretty good team defensively. As long as Freddie and Raanta can stay healthy (which is the real problem here lol), they are going to be fine.

But they paid more for a terrible 32 year old goalie. Berniers is what he is. Bad. I’m fine with Carolina doing it, because they’re in the division.

Roster building topic: I’m stoked to see what our young players do under a different coach.

Edit: I’m dumb and forgot about Andersen. Either way. Still not high on their goalie situation.

There are three deaths in the entire USA from the vaccine.

So yeah, it’s the decent thing to do. But I agree with you. It should be up to everyone to decide and work places shouldn’t make rules about it. But it doesn’t change — the fact — that it’s the right thing to do to get vaccinated.
That number is absolutely laughably inaccurate, like to a satirical degree. But anyway, drop this topic already FFS

Armstrong will get his asking price.

Grubauer leaves the Avs and Sakic needs a goaltender. Armstrong sends Keumper to Colorado.

Kotkaniemi signs with the Hurricanes. Armstrong sends Dvorak to Montreal. Armstrong wasn't moving Dvorak unless he got what he wanted. He wouldn't accept less. The player is signed for four more years.

Patience. It worked for Armstrong.
