only singing I don't like is Tinordi. Smith could have been kept at that price.

why do the Rangers always have the need for a fighter that sucks at fighting

he gives me Steve McKenna vibes on defense. he better be in Hartford as a mentor.

Blais is still an underrated addition. If he plays well and has a breakout year with 35 or so points and continues playing his bull-in-China-shop type game he can fetch a high return for a contender ala Coleman/Goodrow. Already won a cup as well and still very young with upside remaining. Could salvage the Buch trade if he fetches a 1st which isn’t all that unlikely

I still don’t like the trade but I feel Blais has gotten 0 talk and people already don’t like him because of who he was traded for

Tinordi was actually solid for the Bruins last year and was really liked in a locker room with high character. I like this signing but yes, I would rather have Brendan Smith. Crazy that we didn’t give him another year especially after all the times he stepped up for us this past season. Whether it be the one to fight Wilson, or the time where we couldn’t get a shot on net against the Isles and then he starts shooting whenever he touched the puck because no one else wanted to. He was slowly becoming one of my favorite Rangers and had a great turn around story

If we’re talking about offer sheets, my #1 target would be Roope Hintz. He’s an RFA next year and just put up PPG this past season while playing through an injury. Him and Kakko would be something else with the way they play, and he’s actually a center unlike Brady Tkachuk. I think Hintz breaks out like Zibanejad. Dallas has to re-sign Robertson, Klingberg, and Gurianov next year along with Hintz.

Once again, can we work out a trade instead of an offer sheet?

Doubt Dallas trades their 1C especially with Seguin’s injury history. It’s likely that Seguin gets LTIR’d in 3-4 years and the only center they have after Hintz is Faksa. Dellandrea hasn’t made enough progress yet. Only way to get Hintz unless the Stars fall off a cliff and go rebuild is through offersheet

Tinordi was a good, cheap signing and he played well for Boston last season. I don't mind him pulling minutes on our third pair and I certainly don't mind him as a 7th D.

Completely separately from that decision, moving on from Smith was 100% the right thing to do, I don't care if he'd agree to play for free. Smith was not good on this roster most of the time he was here. Not a good defenseman, not a good winger, not a good fighter. What exactly was he good for? Let him be another team's problem.

I bet Blais will breakout just like Prust did here. just a gut feeling

I doubt the Rangers will be selling at the deadline to acquire more assets unless things really go wrong. They'll be looking to upgrade the current roster, not acquire futures, I'd be shocked if Blais is traded unless it's for peanuts because he disappointed and they're dumping him.

To be fair our standards for journalism are very high because the posters here generally have knowledge of the team several standard deviations above the norm

I read that this morning. Why does Rick even bother? He offers nothing.

Yeah I don't get it. He never really answers the questions, often just restates them in a vague way, he offers no insight, why bother doing a mailbag if you're not going to say anything?

I don't totally mind his actual articles but his tweeting and mailbags are just worthless

I think Vince kinda puts out too much stuff
I know he's trying to be productive and make a name for himself and he at least has lots of ideas about stuff to do but at some point it kinda feels like too much all at once
