Sorokin who has worse stats in half the amount of NHL games as Shesterkin? And Sorokin's contract is all RFA years while Shesterkin's is 3RFA and 1 UFA.

Last year
Sorokin has a 2.17 and a .918 save %
Shesterkin 2.62 and a .916 save %

What worse stats?

Does the 25 games played make that much of a difference for you?

I like Shesterkin and still feel he should of been in the same 4 mill range.

Barron should be your Guy. He was already being Groomed as a Center in Hartford. They have the absolute perfect player in Goodrow to ride shotgun with him on 3rd line.
Goodrow-Barron-Kravtsov
Or
Kreider-Barron- Goodrow
Are both very good 3rd line options.

a Kreider-Barron- Blais life could also be an interesting trio if they want to move Goodrow around the line up. But if it were up to me, I’d have Goodrow and Barron stapled to each other for most of the season

I think long-term you're right. From my perspective I would prefer Barron get another 40+ games in the AHL as the 1C playing all situations there.

I've posted this before but this is what I would LIKE to see:

Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Kravtsov
Panarin-Chytil-Blais
Kreider-Goodrow-Kaako
Hunt-Rooney-Reaves

First injury call-up is Barron

Trade Strome

I like Chytil. I'm in no rush with him. But I can easily envision the Rangers trading Chytil for a lower ceiling "now" guy, if he doesn't put up 2C production this season. This will be the Rangers fifth season since their last playoff appearance.

Yeah. Chytil fits that “Trade to win now” bill

Sorokin plays in a Trotz system and was a 1b goalie.

Their situations aren't the same and why are we going to ignore 2020? 25 games is more than double what Sorokin has played in this league.

Sorokin got an extension and raise before even playing a game. His agent really played that well.

When you also consider the team's that were playing in front of them, yes. I'd take Shesty's deal...

McKegg probably gets called up before Barron.

The 25 games played absolutely makes a difference because Shesterkin has played twice as many NHL games as Sorokin and has a better save percentage in a larger sample size. And the fact that Shesterkin played behind the Rangers defense and Sorokin played behind the best defensive system in the league

The biggest issue with the shesterkin contract is it being up for renewal at age 29-30 right in his prime as a goalie and coming off 5.56. He’ll want a huge raise and it puts us in a terrible yet familiar spot because we did the same thing to ourselves with the Hank contracts.

Lundqvist got his big deal at age 32. That was brutal. It took him to 39. Shestyorkin on his next deal, if it's 7 years, takes him to 36.

I think that's significantly better as goalies really fall off a cliff in their late 30s. Not having to carry a big cap hit at age 37, 38 and 39 is a plus.

One of the big problems last year was that Quinn didn't trust his 3rd line at all and really used it as a "put the guys I don't want to give lots of minutes to" on it and then rode his top two lines.

Gallant is supposed to roll his lines more than that, so even if Chytil isn't jumping up to the 2nd line this year he should get decent ES minutes and that line should have the potential to have a lot more utility than it did last year. I think Gallant is going to lean it on much more than Quinn ever did and Chytil will benefit from that

I don't think this is really the case.

Chytil played 12:08 at 5v5 last year. Here is a list of some players who played between 12:00 and 12:16: Coleman, Killorn, Hornqvist, DeBrusk, Dadonov, Cozens, Vrana, Goodrow, Zacha, Bergeron???, Sanford, Hoffman, Armia, Mikheyev, Kempe. Quinn had pretty typical 3rd line usage. He just had very reduced 4th line usage.

Igor, who is a talented goalie in his own right, will have even better numbers as time goes on and his defensemen in front of him continue to mature. With the current projection for our Defensemen, given what/who has been accumulated, he has a good chance to have a better group in front of him than Hank was ever afforded, 1-6.

Agreed except Strome. Poor timing.

Speaking of centers, I'm just a little surprised that Drury didn't make an offer to get Eakin from the Sabres on the cheap. He was money under GG in Vegas.

I'm pretty sure Eakin is pretty terrible these days but perhaps I'm being redundant when talking about a player on the Sabres

Both his regular and shot metric stats have tanked of late, which is probably why it'd be a next-to-free aquisition
