I keep meaning to post this but forget. For those of you who already own Uncharted 4 on disc the remastered version is only $10. I bought it on Facebook and upgraded because why not.

For anybody that still buys physical games (like me… damn steelbook addiction), remember to buy Horizon 2 on PS4, even you plan to play on PS5. The upgrade path is free and the PS4 version still has last-gen pricing. So save yourself $10-15 bucks.

Yea if I'm buying a physical copy of something I'm still mostly buying PS4 version and doing the free upgrade... though I realized recently that I'm probably forfeiting future backwards compatibility if there's ever a PS6 because there's no way that thing would have an optical drive in it.

Horizon getting almost perfect review scores. I'm expecting to play it and come away thinking, "yeah, it was pretty good".

Usually how it goes for me as well...although I honestly loved the first game, and just caught wind of the sequel yesterday. Or forgot, or whatever, the last time I pre-ordered a game, that did not go well. (something that ends with 77, although the Steam copy they gave me does run pretty well).

Luckily, Walmart wasn't sold out of the slightly fancier steelbook version, so my PS4 will be turned on for the first time in a long time this weekend. Will get to run it through my new AVR and speakers too.

No thread for Horizon Forbidden West? Anyway, I spent more than 400 hours playing the previous one and bought a PS5 mostly for this, so I'm hyped and ready to spend weeks going to work, playing this game, sleeping rinse and repeat.

Can't wait to get my hands on it. This, Miles Morales, and the GoW Ragnarok were the main selling point for me to get a PS5. Seems to be getting pretty good reviews all around.

I am about 95% sure that I will also buy it on day 1, but I also got burned with my last preorder of a game that ended in 77.

Really though, it seems like the main critique people have of the original Horizon is that BoTW came out around the same time and was a lot better. I've never played BoTW and also didn't come to Horizon until pretty late, and I got tons of mileage out of the first game while not really being someone who eats up open world games. It looks like they've just dialed everything in and improved some of the lackluster parts of the game, and I am lucky enough to have a PS5, so I think I'm all in for day 1.

Bought Miles Morales when I bought PS5. It was okay, but basically the same as Spider-Man I had just played like a year ago. I haven't put in any time looking at GoW Ragrarok, even though GoW 2018 is up there in my games of all time.

But hell yea, we going to be having fun soon! :D

The reviews seem to be showing it won't burn you like Cyberpunk, although CDPR pulled a fast one on reviewers only handing out the PC version which misled the public about the issues on base consoles. Horizon sounds like it might have some minor pop-in bugs and some loading issues but nothing major or game-breaking. And, reviewers seem to have got their hands on all 3 versions (PS5, PS4 Pro, and Base PS4).

As for BoTW and Horizon: Zero Dawn. Outside of both being open-world games that came out in 2017, they are dramatically different games. I've completely beat Horizon (Outside of a couple of collectibles) and its DLC and have put like 25 hours into BoTW (I'll get back to it and finish it at some point). BoTW was revolutionary due to certain mechanics such as climbing and the physics engine, whereas Horizon outside of its unique premise was more tried and true style of open world. Personally, I think I like the more linear and direct approach of Horizon, compared to the complete sandbox/openness of BoTW. But, I completely get why people absolutely love BoTW and consider it the best game of the last generation (even if it isn't mine).

Yeah, that all makes sense to me. I actually own BoTW but haven't started it yet -- effectively I just don't have the time to play PS5 and Switch, so I've kind of banned myself from buying new games in general until I work through some of the backlog.

But I think Horizon will be an exception, and it also sounds like the approach is maybe just as direct in Forbidden West, which is good news to me. I have found that what keeps me plugged in is really the gameplay loop with open world games. I'm not always a completionist, so it's nice to have the story to keep me tied to something specific, and I just found the gameplay to be so satisfying. If anything, the one thing I'm excited to see is how difficult some of the new enemies will be – if my memory is right, I had developed some pretty consistent strategies for the Thunderjaw and Rockbreaker, but even after putting a good chunk of hours into Frozen Wilds, some of those new machines were thoroughly kicking my ass.

I think in terms of gameplay variety, the one thing I've noticed in reviews is that it seems like there will be more diversity within the different types of robots so to speak than simply corrupted vs. regular. Between that, refined weapons, and new machines, I am confident there is going to be plenty to get me immediately hooked right away.

Never finished the first Horizon and I find it funny that it's once again coming out within like a week of a much more anticipated open world game.

Got another PS5 invite for today. I bought a Series S 2 months ago since it seemed like I would never get a PS5 so now I'm on the fence.

Seriously thinking about it for Horizon even though I could get it for PS4. Not sure what else I'd play yet though since I just bought the new Cyberpunk update on my Series S

Put a couple hours into Horizon: Forbidden West playing in performance. Really enjoying it so far and have seen some areas they have made clear upgrades. The game is beautiful, but I still haven't reached the part where the game really opens up. Can't wait to see what's in store.

Depends on how bad you want it/did you plan on owning systems in both ecosystems, combined with the fact do you think you'd have a good chance of getting it again considering it's unclear when demand will finally slow down. PS5 already has some pretty good exclusives depending on what you like (Returnal, Ratchet and Clank, Demon Souls), and Horizon will obviously play much better with next-gen hardware.

Yeah I bit the bullet and got it. First generation I've had both but it's also the first generation I'm making decent money so whatever.

I'm too much of a fan of Sony's single player games not to.

Enjoy. This is the first-gen since PS2/Xbox I've had two consoles(although in my college 2 bedroom apartment for 3 years I had a PS3 and my roommate had a 360), although it's the PS5 and Switch Oled (plan on traveling and seemed like a good companion). There's a ton of great content, and hopefully God of War: Ragnarok meets its current release goal (which is sometime in 2022).

I'm happy to report they fixed almost nothing about what I didn't like about the first game. Glad I bought this physical, gonna flip it for Elden Ring asap

I think they need to add more fog to Horizon Forbidden West. It doesn't have enough fog.

Holy cow this grapple hook sucks.

I'm hating on this game too much. I'm gonna put my good time hat on.

Uh, mixed reactions on HF for Horizon 2.
I just finished the tutorial and interlude (or whatever it's called). Sadly I am unable to play the game more than 2-3 hours a day as I also care about the story. I don't want to be massively drunk when I play....

I've been hearing and seeing glowing reviews for the game from a lot of people. I'm really thinking about picking it up later today. I really liked the first one a lot.

I just got a PS5 and haven't had a console since PS3. I absolutely suck at games now :(.
Try games without any or with minimal camera controls like Detroit: become human Sackboy, Astros playroom, sports games etc. I always find controlling the camera with the right stick is what gets new or retired gamers.
