It’s crazy to me that people still defend Fletcher & push all the blame on Hextall. I’m not a Hextall fan & yeah he didn’t draft a star player during his rebuild but the teams that generally do are drafting in the top 5 multiple years straight. His draft essentially produced about what you could expect when you look at the draft capital investment. A #2 overall pick can bust or disappoint pinning all hope into one pick isn’t really that viable if a idea & they jumped from like #13 or whatever in the lottery anyway.
Fletcher had a clean slate in terms of assets & cap space when he started here. He’s invested a lot of that cap space & assets since then & what does he have to show for it? His best & really only surplus addition was one season of a mid-30’s Matt Niskanen? What’s his next best move from an on ice perspective? Justin Braun who he paid good bit of draft capital for?
You’re not going to win in a hard salary cap league when essentially overspend on cap &/or assets essentially every move you make which Fletcher has essentially done.

I have….takes….on social media.
One of the people I don’t know and the other is human excrement, but he’s also just out to play suckers for their money. I can understand that whether I would do it or not. To be fair, I don’t run around yelling about it, I just try my best not to ever talk or think about Barstool because it’s not for me. If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of some of these random lunatics that follow some of the larger accounts around, you probably would have some sympathy for the one getting harassed. The shit people say is unbelievable.
My professional Twitter account has mid 4 digit followers. I use it to keep in touch with people in my field. You have a rough idea of what that field is, so just imagine the power-tripping weirdos that attracts. I’ve been quoted a white paper that explained why I was utterly clueless. He would not accept the answer that I wrote that paper despite my full name being right there in both cases. I’m pretty sure I know what it said. I had one guy call my office to ask if I was Jewish. That was literally the message left with an admin. He left a number to call back and everything. People are ****ing nuts and I don’t blame anyone who wants to keep them at arms length. It’s not worth it.

To be fair, I originally posted to let them fight because I think that they’re both off their rockers.
For context Driver is a host on BSH Radio. She is one that refers to players like Konecny as her babies. Portnoy here has someone say that pretty much anyone that likes his business has an opinion that is no longer valid so he probably is in the right to defend himself. How he goes about it? Nah. Very wrestler like like you said because that’s his schtick. Driver also went on to defiantly claim that her statement wasn’t an indictment of Kevin Hayes and for the life of me I can’t see how that’s considered possible.
The minions that follow people around are the ones that need to give their head a shake. Why anyone would come to the defense of someone (cough Chuck Fletcher cough) at every turn that has no association with the person in question and viscerally attack someone else over it is beyond me.
Hell, I don’t even know what would drive people to tweet at all (outside of in ways that you described). It’s a cesspool of humanity.
They are both nuts. Which is why it belongs in the Septic Tank Thread!

I think the only thing I like Portnoy for is his pizza reviews which I’ve used when I’ve went to NYC/North Jersey.
I find him generally annoying though even it’s shtick when in the spotlight. He very well might be an asshole in real life I don’t know & I don’t really care as he’s not for me regardless.
But I do like some of things at his company admittedly but I’m not some weird worshiper like some some of the people the that follow it. I generally avoid the online culture wars on social media in general. As I just don’t see the point. Most of the stuff said on there by the loudest people wouldn’t be said in public for better or worse.

Like I come on here & make jokes at players/coaches/executives/etc. expense but that’s usually within the context of hockey. Even a guy like Fletcher I make jokes that he’s push over within the context of being a general manager. He might be a nice guy outside of that. I have no reason to doubt that but the nice guy thing doesn’t work in professional sports where tough decisions need to be made to be successful.
Would I say this stuff to their face? No even beyond the possible physical altercation it could cause it just wouldn’t make sense in whatever context that led me & them to be in the same room as each other. That’s why I also don’t go to their social media’s or anything to do this shit either. I could make anonymous accounts on social media to troll these guys with no repercussions but I don’t see a point in that. At the end of the day these guys make millions of dollars even if it’s not really deserved & I’m a guy sitting there on his phone posting on the internet about their abilities. They’ve won & my opinions don’t really matter in that scheme.
Most of them probably don’t even know what this site is or even care sans Voracek.
