Sorry i should clarify that it was more of a non echo chamber that many boomers find themselves in. To avoid turning this in a political thing it does seem like a lot of half truths / incorrect information is easily propagated through the internet. People go on webMD.com for an itch and come away thinking they have cancer, sickle cell anemia, and AIDS.
In high school quoting almost anything from the internet was not an acceptable citation while it almost seems now people will quote theonion as a viable citation.
It certainly was a safe haven for shitty people back then (slightly less so now).
